Never done any mods on a flashlight but you guys are making me want to play with one. What kind of mods could I do too a 4d? Where is the best place to get supplies etc?
TIA!!!

PS: Looking for brighter and tighter!!

You could "sleeve it" into a 5C and direct-drive a 5W luxeon using the stock reflector for an awesome mod..

Hi Polar,

For something a little different, if you're interested in super-bright mods with incandescent bulbs, you might start here.

Whatever direction you go in, good luck and have fun.

what kind of mod are you looking for?

brightness? runtime? color?

luxeons are my favorite kind of mods. a 5w luxeon will give you great brightness, and better runtime than incandescant mods will.

luxeons also offer other color options.

with a sleeve, a 4d would make a great canidate for a 5w and 5d batteries.
led mods take more time and are generally harder, but well worth it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
you need a led (obviously), and a heatsink. (in addition to the soler and wires and thermal adhesives of course...)
leds can be obtained from a number of sources, such as www.elektrolumens.com , and the sandwhich shop
if you have machining capabilities, you can make your own sink, or there are options for premade heatsinks. me and another cpfer got together and designed and produced these, so i can personally reccomend them /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

i dont' konw much about incan modding, but another way to cheaply brighten your mag (though it's unreliabele), is to drop in a 3cell bulb. it will be brighter and whiter, but it wont last as long, and could die when you need it most.
