I found this lite. My friend really likes it. How bright is it and how large is it compared to other AAA lights?

She likes it, because it is pink and sales help breast cancer. She does want a nice light though and functional.

Thanks for helping us out on this one for her keychain. lovecpf

First, it's not LED, it's incan.

Second, it's perhaps the dimmest, shortest runtime 1xAAA light you can buy. The output is absolutely pathetic. You can get more light and a longer runtime if you fill the inside with matches instead of a battery. Seriously. :candle:

Instead, I highly recommend the Fenix E01. It's several times brighter, has about 50x the runtime, and is much more durable. It's even a tad shorter than the Solitaire. The E01 also comes in a variety of colors, including purple.

I'd recommend the Maratac 1xAAA. 3 modes and 50 hours runtime on low. For only $10 more than the Fenix E01 you get a much more versatile light. The sister light is the not yet released iTP A3 EOS in a single mode version as well as a 3 mode version. They can be pre-ordered at Battery Station and GoingGear.com for under $22.

That said Mardukes recommendation of the Fenix E01 is an excellent bomb proof light with a long runtime. You really can't go wrong with one, that's why I own one of each color.

Not needing to buy replacement batteries as often and replacement bulbs ever, she can actually afford to make ongoing annual donations directly to the breast cancer foundation!

Guys, she likes the light before turning it on. That's the point; it's pink, and it has a cause. Can't knock that.

So, instead, get her the Solitaire led upgrade to go with it. Thow in a lithium AAA and you have a nice quality led light that she'll love and it will have good performance.

I think this is a subjective decision... As a ground rule here we like to turn something that's dim to stunningly bright and that's fine. I think the friend has no intention of actually using it as a flashlight.

With the right LED and a 10440 its possible to turn a solitaire into a suitable breast examination light like a egg candler rather than just an "awareness" light:nana:

I think leaving it in stock form is alright, but get her something better for a flashlight. :)

I agree. The only problem is that the only LED upgrade that seems to be around is the Tektite LT3. There are others but availability is often an issue. The upgrade is a bit expensive too.

If you prefer the money to go to a good cause though, you can put an E01 into a solitaire. Chances are that you'll ruin a couple of solitaires in the process but atleast the money will go to the cause.

I showed her pictures of the E01 and she wants a pink one and not a purple one. I also found out she wants a good light and the cancer foundation isn't that big of a deal, but she's hard pressed on it being pink.

I tried searching google to no avail. Are there no good LED lights that are pink other then the little flat celled lights?

If there are none I wonder who will make the first money on the women when they get pink.

Are there any companies that may anodize something custom in pink? Maybe a smaller light company?

There are thousands of custom anodizing shops around the country that could strip and reano an E01, but the price would be very high considering the cost of the light.

Back on alternatives, the Photon Freedom really is a fantastic keychain, my favorite by far. It is simple, yet can be dimmed up or down, which is useful in dim restaurants or movie theaters for example. It is also cheaper, only $8.99 at CFRLights, and comes in the pink you requested. In fact, you could pick up a pink Victorinox Classic at the same time from them and have a surpurb little combo.

Yeah I guess they don't market lights specifically towards women, but what the heck why not. Surprised Fenix didn't make a pink color since they have blue, purple and orange gold... The pink color would probably be a hit wit the ladies...

How bout a Fenix E01 but just take a dremel and knock all the color off it and have it type 2 annodized pink for her?I was exploring that option with my fiance's E1e lego.

Passive101, does she have to have AAA size format? Mag also makes the AA minimag incan in the same breast cancer pink. Picked one up for my GF at Wallymart and a Nite-ize LED drop-in. Not a screamer of a light, but it is a bright pink flashlight that she can carry in her purse and show off.

It might have to be type II anodize if they do that, unlike all the other colors which are HA III.

I'm not that knowledgeable on anodizing and types and colors, but why would they be able to do all colors in HAIII but not pink?

They can't do HA in all colors. Very few actually, and very bright colors are not possible. Colors are usually darker, and more muted.
