Hello Guys and gals (if there are any). I am new to this forum, but have been a long time Member of the BKC Forum and the Blades Forums.

I was wondering if you all could give me some recomendations for MagLite LED bulb upgrades.

Here are the three models I would like to upgrade. and my criterias.

3C , Mini Mag 2AA and Mag Solitaire

I want to keep the same light intensity(brightness) as with incadessent bulbs, beam focus if possible and use of the standard batteries if and where possible.

Thank You in advance.

Welcome to cpf. Hold on to your wallet!

There are a LOT of upgrades for your lights, too many to list here. Definitely look at Auroralites dummies guide to Minimag upgrades: https://www.candlepowerforums.com/threads/83903

Look at the mods and led upgrades sections at http://flashlightreviews.com

And look in the "modified lights" forum here and read the reference database.

Also go to the vendors' web sites:

http://www.led-replacement.com/
http://www.leddynamics.com/EverLED/
http://www.terralux.biz
http://www.lighthound.com/sales/terralux_led_maglight_bulbs.htm

EDIT: the above list is NOT exhaustive. Lots more vendors to choose from. Look around and you'll find them.

Also use the search engine. It works pretty well!

If you have basic soldering skills I'd recommend getting an O-sink or Hotlips for the 3C maglite, then direct drive a T-bin Lux III with Alkalines. It will be approx twice as bright as stock, with longer battery life.

Thankx alot guys. I will continue my research and see where it leads me.

I know all about dropping a buck or two on toys. I do have a nice collection of Benchmade knives as well as custom stuff to so great more dollars spent on toys, oh well.

I am currently working on the uLUX at the moment, which is the drop in conversion for Solitare and AAA.

It just received a major design overhaul Friday night, after lying dorment for a little over a year. New features include reverse polarity protection, smaller coil, side emiting LEDs and a sligthly longer runtime. It will operate very nicely on the NiMH and 15 minute rechargable cells avalible, But for the cost to runtime ratio I recomend a regular Alkaline batteries, getting 20 hours plus of full brightness runtime, which is more like 40+ if you don't mind it getting dim. I believe a great flashlite company refered to this as Sun and Moon mode.

I don't know what colors will be avalible from the start, but I would like to see UV and Red mainstrem. I have white red and uv prototypes, but the amount of light from the 3mm UV LEDs leave something to be desired.

Also coming is mLUX which is the AA size conversion product which will have either a Cree 1W, Luxeon 1W or Luxeon-K2 1W depending on avalibility. It may be some time on that one as someone neglected to order the PCBs for the prototype. That should also be avalible in a multitude of colors and lens styles.
