Found this charger (unopened) http://www.dynamiterc.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=DYN4053 that I purchased some time ago for a budding RC interest that never really took off as expected. Could somebody please tell me if this is a better quality and more accurate unit than the Maha MH C9000 that I just purchased for Eneloops and if I'd be better off with the recently received WF-139 for my 14500 and 18650 Li-ions?

I dug up some great info from silverfox as to the compatibility of Li-ions in this "Li-Po" unit ( http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=168961 post#2) yet wanted to know if the two chargers that I am presently using aren't already the very best (my reason for posting this) for these two applications in consideration of what I (now) have.

Thanks in advance if anybody can help.

Hello John,

Looking at the specifications, I would say that it is superior to the WF-139.

Looking at nickel chemistry charging, it is different from the C-9000. It can charge a single cell, or a series string of cells. The C-9000 can charge 4 cells independently. The C-9000 and discharge cells, the other charger can't. However the other charger offers a higher charging rate than the C-9000.

Both can run from AC or DC.

Without testing the Dynamitrec unit, I can't venture a guess as to which is more accurate, or which unit does a better job of charging cells.

IMHO they are quite a different charger all together, Vision peak is for anthusiast market such as RC fans while Wizard one was meant for mainstream users.

Being a Hobby charger it has many features, flexibility and (usually)better accuracy compared to mainstream charger eg. wizard one.
I have WF-139 and hobby charger(Imax B6, Hyperion EOS0606i AD, Maxpro X6) i would normaly use WF-139 to charge 18650 and CR123, it is just easier to charge compared to hobby charger with that aligator clip. If i want to charger faster then i use hobby charger since charging 18650 in WF-139 takes alot of time.

Unfortunately the charger doesnt have discharge function which really important if you still running Ni-Mh or Ni-CD. There are much better charger and more features currently than Vision Peak in the market at that price range(Triton Jr, FMA cellpro 4S, Imax B5, Hyperion 5i to name a few)

thanks.

You two are both fantastic and I am certainly indebted for the time you took to answer this in detail with all the information that I needed. It appears as if I can simply set this aside until needed for the string-type RC cells and use the discharge/recharge functions in the Maha to properly exercise my growing collection of Eneloops over time (I'd buy a better quality charger for the Li-ions; yet I'm beginning to get the feeling that the WF-139 is just fine if you keep an eye on both it and the cells themselves).

Can't thank you both enough once again.

No problems, glad the infos are usefull.

In my opinion WF-139 is an OK charger as long as you keep an eye on it and do a commong sense in charging with ANY lithium chargers. Never had any over-voltage with my WF-139 so far even being left for hours, some has over-voltage but mine doesnt. All the batteries(unprotected) charged measured 4.20v sharp on my DMM and stays the same even the next morning.

The few times that I have charged my protected Li-ons on the WF-139 they have measured spot on also with no variation. Thanks again.

Well unless if you charged a slightly damaged battery, it wont go to 4.2v mark it will be lower.
