FYI, Gene measured the lux of the v.1 version at 4.2 volts with a single 16340 cell and came up with 7,700 lux. Based on my observations comparing it to the M61T on a single 18650 that seems about right.

Assuming the v.2 is simply regulated differently (remember v.1 is rated at 900 lumens at 6 volts), we can extrapolate about 12,800 lux for v.2 and close to the same with v.1 on two primaries. In terms of throw, this makes it equal to the M61T but with a larger hot spot in a more compact package.

I'm not entirely clear with your calculations above, but I don't think you can readily extrapolate between lumens and lux ....

At 600 lumens, the v.1 produces 7,700 lux.

Divide 1,000 (v.2 lumens) by 600 = 1.66

1.66 times 7,700 = 12,782

This is based on the assumption that it's a linear relationship, which holds when comparing the M61T to the M61HOT.

What I understand the relationship between lumen and lux always has to be linear. So the calculation is correct.

My v2 showed today, i got the un shrouded type. Overall really cool and im digging the e compatible 18650 body. I measured 13kcd, ill get some beam shots maybe tomorrow hopefully. Head gets warm pretty quick. It steps down abruptly and not gradually. In the lower mode there is a faint whining sound and visible pwm. Here are some random pics

At the risk of treading on hallowed ground, are you normally capable of detecting PWM? Or is this module worse than others? Are you able to see PWM, for example, in the multi-mode MDC's?

Yes i notice pwm all the time and not just hand held flashlights. I can see it by waving it just like how i saw it with the multi mode malkoffs. I dont own my multimode malkoffs anymore but so i cant compare them but it's not terrible.

I hear pwm is only noticeable in the low modes, and not sensitive to everybody, mostly just K9's ~ Or individuals with very sharp senses :faint:

I measured 13kcd...

Yep, at one meter candela = lux.

The performance-to-form factor of the BG v.2 head on a 1-CR123 body is grin worthy - over eighty 10-second actuations of 1,000 lumen/13,000 lux blasts of light on a single charge of a IMR 16340 700mAh cell. Impressive!

FWIW, I carry my BG in one pocket and a VME/M61NLL/1-CR123 body in another. The two lights combined weigh the same as a single MD2 light and because of their small form factor, carry like they're not even there. Below is a shot of the two lights shown with a Personal Carry Case containing a 4 X CR123 battery caddy holding charged 16340 cells;

No prob im gona try to do beamshots tonight up against some other malkoffs

So removing the adapter from the body you can screw on a surefire u2 head and run 2x18350s which was a cool surprise. I thought there were other old surefires that have the same head threads as the u2 if anyone knows?

Just received my MDC Neutral XP-L 16650 and unshrouded MDC Bodyguard V2 18650. Very nice! Looking forward to testing them this weekend.

Ok got around to some beam shots and kcd measuring. Kinda like a mini malkoff scout showdown. My lux meter isnt the fanciest btw, to trampoline is about 70ft

Thanks for the photos, Jose. The E2 Super would be my choice as well. I've never had one but the new 18650 option makes it more appealing.
