I have searched and am unable to locate a solution. I emailed Gene and haven't heard back yet so I will try you guys.

I have owned over 10 M60's in my time but my current one is giving me trouble. I purchased it about 8 months ago. When I placed it in my SF 6P it did not light up like my others did.

I tried new cells and still nothing. While I was removing the bezel the M60 light up for a split second and then went out. I thought it was a grounding issue. So, I placed a small metal ring at the base of the M60, placed it in the 6P and it worked.

So for the past months I did not remove the bezel to avoid this problem. But, the other day I needed to remove it to wipe something off of the bezel. I cannot for the life of me get it (M60) to work again.

I tired my solution with the ring and got nothing. So, then I placed some tin foil around the base of the M60 and it lit up for a second then nothing.

I placed it into a Solarforce L2, didn't work. I tried three other 6P's, didn't work. I tried a G2, didn't work.

Has anyone had this problem and is there a way to fix it?

Thanks for the help..........

Yup when I put my M60 in my L2 its pretty finicky. Fortunately, it lives in an MD2 where there's no issue. You already tried tinfoil so I have no suggestions except wait for Gene's excellent customer service. Is it possible there is some crud, oxidation, whatever on the springs or threads.

clean the brass outer housing of the module really well. Make sure it is dry. Wrap Aluminum or Tin foil around the body so that it makes a snug fit into either a 6P or a Solarforce host. That will be different amounts of foil wrapping. Make sure your spring contact is not crushed down and flat as well. I would also make sure all your flashlight hosts are cleaned and deoxidized. G.

If you can't get it to work properly give me a call or email. We will get it taken care of.

And THAT, is why malkoff is the best. ;) He gets things done himself. it sounds like to me that the electronics have givin up. You may have inserted the cells in the wrong way or something. (dont know if m60 has protection, but i know m30 does not)

I have a 9P and a number of Leef/FiveMega bodies. My fav was 3x123 Leef body until recently, I also like FiveMega 2x18650 a lot.

Now I had issues with 2x18650 Leef body. The M60 module would not ground in it -- and only in it. So it was something specific to that piece. It's kind of on and off, usually works but not always.

Wrapping it in foil did resolve the issue FWIW...

As always Gene came through. I emailed him a few days ago and to my surprise there was a brand new M60 sitting in my mail box today. Gene thanks again for the best customer service one could ask for.

That's why Malkoff is the only drop in I use.

Just in case, here's a problem I had with a M60 & Leefbody, solved with aluminum foil.

That's great news of course but it would still be nice to know if with a good tight fit into any of those bodies using sufficient aluminum foil between the host inner wall and the module brass outer wall that you could make the problem go away. I and many others have had this problem before in some of our hosts and always made it disappear with either Copper or Aluminum foil tapes custom fitted to make it snug. Keep us posted.

I cleaned it and tried six or seven more time with different amounts of foil, still nothing. I'm going to have to try a Copper based foil. I will post the results in a few days when I pick some up.

You should try cooper tape, not foil. The cooper tape made by 3M is awesome and will create a tighter fit than the aluminum.

You need to bench test the M60 outside of a host to make sure it is functioning, then, while you've got your test leads hooked up, put the flashlight into the circuit.
You've got a perfect test light for checking continuity this way.

By using the test leads you should be able to probe the the flashlight and figure out where the problem lies.
You're assuming there's a problem with the contact between M60 and host but it could very likely be elsewhere.

if its not working in several different aluminum flashlight hosts with Aluminum foil tape, then I don't think copper will make the difference in this case. It would be interesting to test it individually to a DC power supply and see what happens.

I think ultimately FiveMega is closer to Surefire specs than Leef, as nice as the latter is.

I filed an M60 for a better fit in 9P (the bezel-body had a 2-3mm gap) and had issues with ground in 3x and 4x Leef bodies. I am not sure if filing had anything to do with it since I had zero issues in FiveMega bodies, also 3x and 4x.

I tried alum foil but ultimately used that particular M60 module in FM body and solved that problem this way. All is good. I am getting another M60LL module but won't file it to reduce the likelyhood of ground issues.

Although it's entirely possible the ground issues have nothing to do with me filing 1 mm or so off the bottom. I cannot remember if I had these issues before I filed it.

(It's a moot point since the last I heard from LightHound is that Leef is out of that business. Keep your Leef bodies -- there is no more coming.)
