Hello all. I currently have a Surefire G2/Malkoff M60LF setup. I was thinking of getting another G2 with a M61LL drop-in for the extra runtime. Is the M61LL much bright than the M60LF?

Hallo lumax, and :welcome:

M61LL is not as bright as M60LF. The latter is comparable to M61WL. The question is for what purpose you want the light. Both of them provide a soft transition from hotspot to spill while the hotspot of M60LF is MUCH larger. M61LL will throw better than M60LF. I think you would like the M61LL as well.

Hope that helps a bit, Patric

I really don't think that you can go wrong here, those are by all reports excellent selections. My two cents, I would prefer the M61LL to the M60LF.

However, IMO the perfect selection for your lights would be the M61WL though - folks here have reported that the tested runtime from the M61L is considerably greater than their claimed runtimes. I don't think that you would be disappointed.

I have M61LL in a G2 with a Surefire Z49 tail cap so the light tailstands.
It is an excellent long running light providing at least 10 hours at the 100 lumen output level. The beam profile in Malkoff's new "61 series" drop ins have a very nice balance between throw and spill. If you plan to use the light in very dark environments the 100 lumen level is more than enough light.

Thank you for that. I would like to use the light mainly as a backup. But having used the M60LF, I think I might prefer something with bit of throw and a decent spill.
