I was on a bus yesterday and was bored out of my mind so I decided to check my email account on my Blackberry. Well, Gene's message was there and I decided to try and get a P60 drop in. By the time the browser on my Blackberry loaded his website, managed to get a P60 drop in my shopping cart and then try to pay--well, the Blackberry was just too slow. Didn't get one. Each browser refresh I could see more and more people signing on and that just added to the excitment of trying to get a drop in.

Personally, I had a lot of fun trying to beat the clock to get one. I know my day and time will come. No big deal. I like Gene's system. From a marketing stand point, it keeps the interest high and everybody wanting more. Kinda like Las Vegas.

I might sound fun for a couple of times before it gets fraustrating. Seriously tho, if I tried and tried and couldnt get one and I see a posting here and ask bout the M60. I would reply to the post saying it's a great drop-in, but uh..good luck getting one. There is no waiting list, pre-order, sign in sheet, etc... so you better be able to have access online at all time and click the refresh button every once in awhile hoping to get an email from Gene.

PS, I am not saying this because I am pissed off, I actually got one already and it's beening shipped today. I just want to (with my small brain) suggest something that Gene might use to manage the demands. Instead of having 12 drop-in and emailed 100 and leaves 88 disappointed customers.

again with my .02

I hear ya! I guess part of the fun for me is that I'd like a drop in, but I'm not chompin' on the bit like some folks around here. I can truly afford to wait as I have a knife addiction to go with my flashlight addiction.

I was lucky enough to have snagged a couple Surefire drop-ins and a Mag drop-in. I think Gene's decision to sell this way is quite genius. Look at how much buzz and anticipation gets built up for his M60! Then when the email comes out, it's like throwing raw meat into a shark tank...it's a feeding frenzy!

Demand is high for his product, satisfaction is high, and no stale inventory remains unsold on shelves. Also, resale value of the M60 is excellent since they're relatively rare. Really, does he have ANY incentive to do a pre-order list? A list is just a pain to maintain and you get people changing their minds and dropping off lists all the time.

Gene's been making buzz on his product since I think, (if i am correct) since July of 07. I don't think his intention is to create more buzz (i could be wrong). But he also have to consider other sellers (BOG and others) are pushing a similar product. I rather Gene have a list of people that want it and he know exactly how to maintain my inventories/purchases. And it's a sure way to locked those customer. I just think some sort of system would be nice instead of the "throwing raw meats into a shark tank", that also can slow down the website too.

Any dealer on CPF knows that they live and die on the "hot" light-of-the-month. Those of us that sell a lot in the MarketPlace know that too. I have no idea what Gene's intentions are or his plans for selling, but a little buzz never hurts.

A list would mean having to wait a while to get one. Just from rough memory, it seems like Gene cranks out about 10-15 M60s per week...now, if you were number 100 in line for this thing, you'd be getting an M60 in 2-3 months. Are you kidding me? But if he sends out an email in the next hour with 10 available, and you happened to be online and able to grab one, you'd have a new M60 for your 6P in 3 days. :)

Good point. if that's the case, i feel sorry for those who are dying for the M60 but have a rough schedule. But I think I recalled other memebers waited more than 1 month for this drop-in. 2-3 month is not that long to wait for an excellent product. Even so, I could login in and remove myself for the list if I no longer want to wait or moved on.

Well, you said you were able to snag one of these...so this is a moot discussion! :) Just be glad that you won the Malkoff Mad Dash and wish others luck and enjoy your new toy when it gets there.

If you really really care about lots of people able to get one, you should start a preorder list of your own and the next time these become available, buy all 15! There ya go...that solves that problem.

I agree with the way is selling them, no pre orders. Maybe he should limit them to like 1 or 2 per person so they get spread out amongst more people. Someone could try and snag them all and sell them on Ebay The more people that have them can and will brag about how great they are, this would good for business, no?

Well, I have one of Gene's earlier Mag dropins, his first M60, and now his new M60 Q5 with the optic. I haven't had much of a problem getting something when I need it, but I'm usually around my computer when his emails come in. With Outlook I set it up so it checks my email every minute, if I get an email from Gene it plays "EMERGANCY ALERT! EMERGANCY ALERT!" from like Star Trek or something, and a notifaction window pops up alerting me to his email. From there, with my fast computer skills, I can get to his site and have one ordered in no time.

So maybe if some of you are having trouble beating the masses, you could try doing something like this. :)

I've got an M60L and a 2-3-4-D (which I may have to trade to get an M60). I love the products, and stand behind Gene's decisions. It just sucks, when you have a job, and a life, and have to compete with people that stare at the monitor all day.

I buy custom gunleather, even though I have to wait on the list. Milt Sparks wait is 6-7 months; Matt DelFatti's wait is over 2 years, and the customers keep lining up.

It would be nice if Gene would at least take orders from Public Safety Officers, even if he only alloted a percentage of his product to fill those orders, say 25%.

I don't want to **** anyone off, but some of us use our lights to stay alive! We don't just sit around and shine them on the wall, to see which one iis brighter.

Do what I did - buy it off of Buy/Sell/Trade. I ended up getting a Malkoff M60 and two BOG drop ins.

And no - I'm not a white wall hunter either. I also pay for custom or near custom holsters because of my size and body type - so I can understand that.

However, I have to do some level of white wall hunting in order to determine if something's even worth while to stake my life on. Just like how you develop muscle memory at the academy for drawing and holstering that stays with you pretty much the rest of your life, you have to practice utilizing a flashlight properly as well. White wall hunting allows that to happen.

I am ashamed of myself. I didn't get it to save life or stay alive. I get it to check if those freaken useless kids are trying to steal my families cars again. I know many other members needed for their job and it can easily save their life. So that is why I only purchased 1 instead of grabbing 2-3 and try to make a buck or two when I had the chance. Good luck with all those that didn't get the M60 drop-in.

Do what WadeF did, but u do need to be infront of the computer most of the time. A laptop w/ wifi sounds nice. You can be in the bathroom purchasing your drop-in while doing your own "drop-in".

Some of us spend our money on untested and unknown products so we can inform people looking for lights and products they can bet their life on.

Do you think people like yourself would be interested in a Malkoff product if it wasn't for others testing them and then raving about them?

Should products like this first go to people who want to stay alive, without anyone else testing them and reviewing them first?

I agree, if it wasn't for those memebers, I wouldn't know who's Malkoff and how good his products are.

Wadef, thanks for your testing and efforts. Appreciated very much. Thank you.

Again, I wasn't trying to offend anyone. I wouldn't know who Gene Malkoff is either, if not for the people on the board. I'm simply trying to make a point, that when you work, have absolutely no access to the internet at work, and have 3 little ones to care for, getting an M60 is like hitting the lotto.

Once, I happened to be lucky enough to be sitting here, when I got the email from Gene. In the 30 seconds it to to click the link, hit the button, and go to checkout, I got the sold out message. They don't last 10 minutes on B/S/T either.

I know Gene is waiting on parts for M60's. I know it's hard to get them now, but hopefully he'll be able to put more and more up at a time and eventually it will get easier to snag one. I think he's still getting himself geared up.

In the meantime, you could try the BOG Q5 Super Premium drop-in. If the Malkoff is a 10, then the BOG is easily a 9.5. Many people (such as myself) have both and would agree that they both work extremely well!

I agree ttran97, I have numerous M60's and a few BOG Q5's. The have small differences, but I prefer the Malkoff over the BOG.

But with that said the BOG holds second place "hands down" in my book.
