Malkoff M61 with two 17670's?

I ordered a solarforce 1 cell extender for my Surefire 9P with Malkoff M61HCRI in hopes of improving my battery life. Currently I'm using two 17500 cells. Its my camping light and run time is very important. Does anyone have any run time numbers with two 17670's? Also wondering about run time with two AA's on the M61. Thanks,

If run time is that important, why don't you have the body bored out for 2x18650 or get aftermarket body?

With 3100mAh 18650 cells, you will gain almost double of run time compare to 2x17670

I'm in Canada and no one in this country offers the service. I also like running a stock surefire config. I have 18650 lights as well.

The 9P setup with two 17500's is ideal in the unbored Surefire. A extender would give you at-least another 30-40 minutes runtime. Should put you at 2-2.5 hrs in regulation before the low voltage protection kicks in from the cells (assuming you are using protected cells?) and shuts you down. Remember that the M61 is 9V max and you cannot use 4x123 cells or you will burn out the module. I have a M61WL and done some testing with 2xAA nimh's. The output is greatly reduced with the AA's, but a very useful moon mode effect. I got to 28 hours non stop of output ~ 1 lumen and stopped the test. Very useful option in emergency situations. More than enough useable light in complete darkness. Hope this helps.
