Malkoff runtime question.

I have a SF 6P with Mr. Malkoff's P60 drop-in in it. His site says that there is about a 1 1/2 hour runtime with two cells. I have the A19 adaptor now and am using a third cell. What kind of runtime would be expected with this extra cell? Is it about 45 minutes per battery?

45 mins or so was what I was told when I asked him a similar question (run time for my C3).

Well, not that I expect to ever be able to buy one, but out of curiosity, is that 1.5 hrs (45 min. per cell) of regulated output? Or does it fall out of regulation before that?

I asume op was using primary cell's. 45 min. per cell sound's pretty close.
How about rechargable 123's how long do they run?

on my standard 6p defender using 2 AW rcr123's i get exactly 39 mins. of constant run time. after that, you can turn the light back on, but after 5 seconds, shuts off again.

Adding a battery will actually increase runtime more than 50%. The regulator drops out at about 3.8 volts. With two batteries, each one is drained to 1.9 volts. With 3 batteries, each is drained to about 1.27 volts.

My understanding is that the times listed on Gene's site were before it drops out of regulation. I could be wrong, of course.

The Malkoff drop-ins are the least expensive way to get a high output light for the fewest dollars. The M60 is $68 delivered from Gene, or $75 to $85 on BST. Add a 6P Original (I just paid $44 on eBay, delivered) and you have a a killer light for not much over $100. It is quite the bargain.
