Malkoff XP-G 260 OTF lumens 2~3D Mag drop-ins...

Got my 2-3D XPG drop in yesterday along with reflector from Malkoff. Thought I would be more impressed. Huge spill and good throw however. Gene should offer a better reflector that interfaces with the emitter better. Had no $'s in the Maglite as it was a golf prize but now have a decent billy club/flashlight for $80 that runs on D batts that you can get anywhere.

Anyone notice the P7 drop-ins have mysteriously dissappeared? Maybe something else is brewing... SST-50 SST-90 SST-50...

Ah, and I see someone started a thread on this, but no posts there as of yet.

I'm wondering if we aren't gonna see a roll out of all new emitters for most everything, M30, M60, the mag dropin's with XPG's and maybe SST-50's or 90's for the mag super lights. :tinfoil:

should probably say I'm hoping 🙂

HOLY COW!!! I am at work for the first time since I got the Malkoff XP-G mag module installed in my 3D cell. My post has some tree lines pushing about 100 yards and I am can still reach out with module and see the trees pretty well. I am very impressed with this upgrade. It has awesome throw, neutral to warm tint so color rendition is excellent and finally the price is awesome! Great work Gene. :thanks:

:thinking:I wonder what Gene is working on to replace the P7 modules that are not listed on website anymore...

The 2-3C XP-G modules are in stock!

Grabbed one instantly. The 3D size is bigger than I want sitting on my nightstand, but I need a serious RHD (raccoon harassment device). My first Malkoff. I doubt it will be my last.

My 2-3C XP-G arrived yesterday. It's now in a 1C running on an AW C Li-Ion. Great little light, but I may go to a 3C with 4x NiMH. That combination with the 2-3D model is brighter than on a single Li-Ion.

Around here, the raccoons throw rocks at me when I hit them with a flashlight.

I just placed an order for my own 2~3C XP-G drop-in.

Next I will test it against MrGmans 2~3C P4 drop-in. :twothumbs

MrGman,
Another video might be needed soon.😀

Neutral to warm tint? There must be some huge variances because mine is definitely cool white.

Sorry, but the XP-G is not yet produced in the warmer tint bins as far as I'm aware. :ironic: That would be sweeet if it was, I would buy a warm mag malkoff drop-in like THAT.

That's 'cause you're doing it wrong! You're supposed to shine it in their eyes, not hit 'em with it. Hitting just makes them angry. But if that's what you're going to do, for hitting I would definitely recommend the 3D instead of the 3C. :grin2:

I know what you mean, though. I had one about a month ago that I would swear stood up on his back legs, put his paws on his hips, and just stood there, tapping one foot, giving me a look that said "You going to be done pretty soon, or do I have to take that light away from you and..."

It will be my pleasure to compare it to my older style unit when I am back in town. You don't want to fly to where I am for the test. But this is definitely on my to do list.

Donn,

The XP-G Mag 2C and 3C drop-in I assume is identical to the "d" drop-in, but it doesn't say on Gene's website if it is good up to 5.5v.

Gene,

Is this the same "good up to 5.5v" just like the D size XP-G drop-in?

Thanks,
Jose

Sorry my excitement has gotten the best of me:ohgeez:. I haven't seen a incan in such a long time I forgot what the warmer side of the spectrum looks like. I am sitting in my apartment and I just compared it to a SF P60 and it is definitely cool in the color spectrum. It is a lot warmer than my other LEDs but more to the greenish-yellow side.

Here is a Picture of the Mag 2-3D cell XP-G and Surefire P60 for comparison.

Grabbed two dropins this morning. One will be placed in a Maglite 1D (3AA to 1D adapter) and the other in a MagC customed to fit one CR123 cell.
Edit: I told wrong. I grabbed C dropins and changed one of them to a D-dropin.

Regards, Patric

I haven't worked a night shift since I got my drop in, but I will Sunday night. I have been telling the guys on my shift about the light, I am excited. I may never care for an incandescent flashlight again.
