Hello All,
I followed Martin's excellent thread last-year on producing an auto-switching bridge-rectifier/ voltage-doubler:

Of course having bought the board, summer arrived and it sat on my shelf untouched, as it took me ages to get hold of a SON and build it into a wheel.
Well as winter has returned along with my motivation, so I want to make a couple of simple mods but require an expert's view on how these could be achieved.
I intend to populate the board with components that would be suitable for a string of 3 Cree XR-Es driven by a SON. What I'd like to do now is take advantage o the fact that 3 white Crees in series have (very nearly) the same Vf as 4 red Crees.
1. Is there as simple addition I could make to the circuit so that it just switched the continuous output between these two seperate strings?
This would result in an alternating front/bank pattern: in effect front and rear super-blinkies?
2. On an unrelated theme, is there anywhere in this circuit I can put a string of NiMhs (or supercap) to give me a stand-light function?
Many thanks,
Thomas Hood
