my current set up is

2 x Ultrafire 900mAh 14500 li-ion protected in AA to C adapters + 2 C spacers (which is definitely brighter than 4X 1.2V NiMH AA in C adapters)

will i blow my bulb if i use

(a) 3x 14500 mAh li-ion + 1 C spacer
(b) OR 3x 18650 mAh li-ion

thx🙂

The bulb is probably a PR12 or equivalent which is:

5.9-6.0v @ 3watts krypton.

Bulb determines how much voltage required.

The setup you have now is pushing it a bit, which will mean shorter life.

2 X 14500 @ 3.6 - 4.2v = 7.2 - 8.4v

Samething for the 18650's.

BTW, I had a 2D maglight running a P12 with 4 1/2D nicads.
Brightness of a 4D in a 2D package size.

Get a PR18 bulb which is 7.2volts @ .55a (3.5w) so you wont blow bulbs at that voltage.
Has a low total hours runtime, but is very bright.

PR30 is rated for 3.8v .85a (almost 3w). Good for 1 18650 cell.
