McGizmo spot light recommendation?

No one is trying to give you a hard time, we are trying to be the best help we can by getting as much info from you as possible to help with your desicion.

McGizmos lights are not cheap and we want you to be happy with whatever you decide to get.

Do you need long runtime?
Would two different beams from the same light be useful?
What size are you looking for?

As previously stated from other members, the more info you can give us with regards to what you EXPECT from your light, the better we can help.

The members here at CPF are some of the best people you will ever deal with on an online cummunity. We do our best to help people out and the more info you give the better we can help.


You say you want something like a 6P....Don does not deal with incans, so nothing he makes will be like a 6P.

Just get an LS20. Anyway, there are only 2 lights available now direct from McGizmo, the Sundrop and the LS20. I don't think you want the Sundrop (all flood, lower output, high CRI) if you are looking for something 6P-ish. The LS20 will beat the original Surefire 6P ican at everything except CRI, and you have 3x3mm LEDs for flood. If all you want is "spot" you can also consider a Ti PD-S on B/S/T which is smaller than the LS20 but more powerful with a warmer tint (lose the flood LEDs though).

You are getting a lot of frustration from the readers of your thread because pretty much ALL LED lights made today from a multitude of manufacturers can handily provide more flood AND throw, with a better beam quality than the original 6P ican. By today's standards, the original 6P is hardly a "spot light". You might as well have used the Mag 2D as the benchmark. Coming to the McGizmo forum usually means that someone is already familiar with the current LED lights, has refined their requirements or tastes, and is looking for something specific. McGizmo's recent offerings are more geared towards high end EDC, which are not intended to provide a "spot light" although when compared to the original 6P, nearly anything these days will beat it.

The LS20 is the best McGizmo has ever made. In fact, I think he even says so.

You got several good suggestions from you`r fellow CPF members..

It feels like you`r "demanding" information and when people ask for more info on what you`r preferences in a light is, you actualy feel ignored and misstreated....!?

Maybe take a lower profila and be greatful all these people actualy tried answering the questions you posted and even recalculated you`r needs....

This is what came up in a simple search on "flood" here at CPF....

And there is even more if you specifie and do an advanced search....

Don's PD-S is in the same ballpark as the 6P.
Also, as others mentioned, if you're interested in the same amount of reach as the 6P only, check out the ls20 which provides that and much more utility.
