Where is the best place to get a glass lens for an MDC and does anyone know the size?
You'll have to scroll through some drop down menus and know the range of dimensions that you need (hopefully someone else can answer that, I don't have one to measure), but this is the first place to look if you haven't already. https://flashlightlens.com/glass-lenses/
Thank you. I have seen that website before, but I do not have calipers to measure. The malkoff lenses are plastic and scratch pretty easily. Not a deal breaker, but I’d prefer glass on my non-hard work lights.
🤦♂️ Glad you showed up. I was about to start a wild goose chase 😬Or one could order it directly from Malkoff.
The malkoff lenses are not glass though.🤦♂️ Glad you showed up. I was about to start a wild goose chase 😬
...and I use Borofloat glass for my hardest working lights (which was standard from the factory, BTW). In my experience, acrylic lenses just can't handle the heat. Borofloat (or equivalent?) can handle the heat, and I have yet to break one (knock on wood). Rated transmissivity means nothing after there's a giant 'starburst' in the middle effectively attenuating OTF transmission. Since I've never broken a Borofloat, why would I use anything less? Although I'm used to working in very hi ambient, and on / close to very hi temp equipment in industrial settings, anyone living where I do uses their lights in very hi ambient. Just try working in my garage on buck-teen days as I did yesterday;-) Impact is a major enemy, but so is temp. So far, Borofloat handles both with relative ease. I don't fix things that are working great. There are more than enough things which aren't, which keep me plenty busy.I'd prefer glass on my non-hard work lights.
But then we wouldn’t have anything to talk aboutMalkoff might actually just tell you the dimensions if you ask nicely?
Diameter: 22.52 mmBut then we wouldn't have anything to talk about
Thank you for being 'the one' to just measure the bloody thing! Sheesh! I've been 'yelling [WTH] at my computer';-) If I'd had one, I'd have done it myself. Good on ya!Diameter: 22.52
Thickness: 1.51 mm
Thank you. I ordered from flashlightlens.com. The only option they had was 22.6 x1.75mm so hopefully those fit.Diameter: 22.52 mm

It was a rocky go at first, but we persevered.I'm glad everything worked out here 😊
