Just a feeler about who's interested for a night walk around Blackburn Lake on a Friday night? This is not another VIC CPF meet per se, because we already had one last month.

THE WIFE is not interested in such a "stupid, meaningless activity" and I reckon I'm too chicken to go alone.

I'm open to suggestions if anyone knows of a better place.

Dinner at Box Hill or Glen Waverley before the walk would be a great way to start!

Might be Ok Gav, not too sure of my commitments for the week yet. I don't know Blackburn Lake, is there anything closer to home?

I'm up for it too Gav, but we should find something a little bit more SE, poor Norm has to drive up all the way again 🙂

Take your time Norm. From my perspective you've got it easy, and you don't even have to get your feet wet.

Yikes, better bring a camera crew and call it long way round the Pacific.

the truth is as i am looking at buying a house, i have quite a full calander at the moment. make a date and i will let you know. but i will do my best to be there.
i hope to catch you soon.

Re: Melbourne CPF - Night walk @ Blackburn Lake.

Blackburn Lake Sanctuary has a circuit track around the lake, about 2.5km, so its not too long. During the day, the park has magnificent views, but at night its pitch dark and spooky... no light pollution that I know of.

Just took a look at the calender and was wondering if the 20th/21st or 27th/28th Feb would be best for those of us that are interested.

Norm, we can car pool again. 😀 Perhaps drive to my place in Cranbourne and jump in my van?

Gav the only one out for me is the 27th, my birthday is the 26th and we are going out to the local Thai restaurant  on the 27th.

Great idea about sharing the drive :twothumbs

Happy "21st" Birthday Norm! So we'll scratch out the 27th then!

So what about the 20th, 21st or 28th??? Votes people....

Re: Melbourne CPF - Night walk @ Blackburn Lake.

The date is tentatively set for 20th February. If that is too soon, we'll change it to 28th Feb.

Those who are interested please state your interest and which date you prefer.

Re: Melbourne CPF - Night walk @ Blackburn Lake.

I can't make it on Feb 20, but the 28th is good.

March 7 and 8 are good, as are 13 and 14.

This lake idea sounds very good indeedy.

Re: Melbourne CPF - Night walk @ Blackburn Lake.

My plans are still changing the 27th I'm busy as above, March 7th and 8th I will be interstate at a wedding. Feb 20th, 28th and March 13th, 14th are OK.

Maybe the 28th of Feb, what suits everyone else? If it is going to be this Saturday night we need to make a decision.

Dinner at Box Hill or Glen Waverley before the walk would be a great way to start!

I should be free that night too 😀
Here's to Melbourne CPF one of (if not THE) most active group on CPF

Re: Melbourne CPF - 28/02/09 Night walk @ Blackburn Lake.

Just had an idea and looking for feedback on this:

Since its just a night walk, I don't think we'll be lugging a toolbox full of lights around the lake right? So why don't we limit the lights we carry for this walk to 3 EDC lights. ie: No custom made-10kg-nuclear-powered-35megaton-HID with a 12inch Turbohead that can throw from earth to mars!!!😀

I don't think Surefire M4's & M6's qualify as EDC lights either... its debatable, but the average CPFer will not be hiding one of those in their pockets would they?! I guess an M3, L5 or L6 would be about the limit of EDC if you're a police officer...

Opinions? Violent objections?:hairpull:
