Melbourne CPF meet

AN OFFER TO CONSIDER

Hi Guys, '

I would be willing to host a meet on my back verandah.

It has good fields of view.-varying distances up to 200m approx.
No light pollution.
Under cover, close to toilets etc (inside or tree in garden)
Short walk to Gembrook road(3mins) for long shots down road or across paddocks.

Also possum spotting.

Dinner--Home Hotel voted Best Vic.Country Pub/Hotel operation this year only 3 mins away or i am happy to fire up BBQ if preferred.

Would also be happy to provide a bed overnight if a couple of people wanted to visit from further afield.

We are under an hour from Box Hill/Doncaster area to give an idea on how far and it is a very easy drive.

If you want to appreciate your hobby you need real darkness-not city parks.

What do you think???

Sounds excellent to me Stewart. It makes it more of a social event when there is more to the night than shinning torches around, I feel after the last meet I got to know quite a few people better than I had in the past.
Cheers Norm

Hear hear, but it better be 17/18 weekend though...

Stewart, it's very generous of you to offer that! Thank you!

I think that your idea is a fantastic one. I would be in.

My only reservation is that those who have to travel further or who can't make it without cars might be disadvantaged.

I am willing to pick up people. Perhaps dom/any others could half carpool (dom could park at my place and I could drive from there?).

Logistically speaking, planning a CPF meet for Melbourne will always be a travelling nightmare for some regardless of the location. However it would be the most logical decision to cater for the majority of people.

I agree it would be difficult for those members travelling from the Western suburbs, but those of us located in the Eastern suburbs have offered some ideas to help ease the inconvenience of those travelling from the Western suburbs.

Strangely enough its been us in the East that has been making the most noise about this, the West seems strangely quiet about the location and travel...

Hello...?? Anyone there? dom?

Departure locations:
01. Norm - Warragul
02. Fusion - Cranbourne
03. kiwiman - Launching Place
04. Grox - London???
05. quokked - ???
06. dom - Geelong
07. lctorana - ???
08. isc - Inner East somewhere(a suburb would be good...)

Could I please be added as number 9 ?

Dods60 - Pascoe Vale

i am willing to drive for a few hours, as i enjoy it!
I have been looking foward to a get together for some time! :grouphug:

Yah -i'm still here and will still go if nothing happens like last Christmas (broken legs)

Nice offer Stewart -bbq sounds great :)
I'll bring garlic prawns if anyone likes them.

I'm just getting a car next week after 10 years non driving and got a GPS today -so should be good if anyone needs pickup on the way.

Cheers
Dom

Hi Dods60, it's great to see another Melburnian on CPF.

Looking forwards to the meet too!

dom, I just got a gps today as well :)

Man, wish it had been scheduled for January 3-4. I'll be in O-town then, but back out of town by the 17th...

:poof: go my dreams of a CPF meet...

Great things to have hey Grox?
Poor old Melways is on the way out -after hearing/seeing my mates GPS in action,i don't think i'll look at a map again.

Hi dom be prepared to be directed up a few dead end streets, wait until you get into an endless "turn around" loop. :nana:
Mine is a few years old but it was top of the range when I bought it. For the price I paid I could have bout at least 3 M6"s :( should have bought the M6's at least they would still have some value. :)
Despite its faults I still prefer to use the GPS rather than stuff around with the Melways. :twothumbs

I use a TomTom One XL and OneXL Easyport(as backup) for work everyday, and as long as you do not choose "shortest route" option, you'll be right as the "quickest route" option sticks to paved roads and major highways.
