I didn't see ANY threads of this nature, so I thought it would be a good idea to start one. Possibly we can get it stickied.

Please only list possible improvements. Do not use this as a complaint thread.

I'll start......

1. Ability to toggle the backlight On/Off.

2. Ability to toggle the display between;

a) The large, one battery at a time, constantly rotating display.

b) A display similiar to the BC900 showing all 4 batteries at once.

c) Between constantly rotating and static, rotating with presses of the up/down keys maybe.

Good point about the backlight.

Very glad that the display is backlit.
Makes reading much easier in marginal lighting.

But sure would be nice to have a switch to
turn the lighting on or off . . . .

I've been covering it with a yellow Post-It-Note
during my sleep cycles. :)

I'd also like to be able to switch the backlit on and off.
Also, it would be nice for the charger to calculate the power in Wh during discharge.

Total runtime for a process such as the break-in mode. It only tallies the individual components of the break-in cycle vs total time for the whole process.

My biggest gripe with the unit is the loud, high-pitch whine emitting from it while charging. It gets worse with higher charge levels. I've noticed the first slot isn't quite as bad as the others in this regard.

That said, it's waaaay to loud for me. It's just a few notches below painful to my ears. I'd like to keep it on my desk, but instead I keep it buried in the back of my electrical closet.

I'd like to be able to hold down the Slot button to have the settings from slot 1 copied to the other slots. I think it's just a firmware change and would save just that little bit of time.

I'd like different default charge currents for AA and AAA cells.

I'd also like a discharge cycle added to the beginning of the break-in so that the first timed charge started off with discharged cells.

To duplicate slot settings, I reckon it'd be easier to have a system where if multiple cells were inserted quickly one after another, then any setup done would be applied to all newly-filled slots.
That doesn't require any button-pressing, and is conceptually almost more logical than the current one-slot-at-a-time setup system - it'd be easy to indicate what was happening by lighting all the slot indicators during programming.

Oh, another thought that could be easily implemented is a different toip-off current for AA and AAA cells. With the charging algorithm that is used right now, fast charge is terminated at approximately 90% chrgaerd cells. 2 hours at 100 mA of top-off could be an overcharge for some sub 1000 mAh AAA cells while it could not bring high capacity AAs to a full charge. To me something like 70 mA for AAA and 200 mA for AA for 2 hours would be better.

I'd really like to see a C & D cell version of this charger. The 808 is close, but I want the break-in and discharge modes, too.

I'll second the "macro" settings and separate defaults for AA & AAA.

How about press and hold the 'slots' button until all the slot arrows flash, then the settings applies to all slots.

I have no issue at all with the backlighting or noise. I can hear it, but it's no problem.
