Microfire HID bulb temp question

I'm very tempted to give the Microfire K3500R a try as I like the form factor, and most of the reviews seem to be fairly favorable. The only thing holding me back from making a purchase is the bluish 7000k bulb temp. I'd prefer a tint in the 4500 to 5000 range. I suspect I'm not alone in this. Inasmuch as I've never seen a warmer tint offered by Microfire, I'm just curious if they've ever addressed this issue and their apparent reluctance to so easily increase their market share.

A huge number of us have asked this same question of Microfire and others for years - to no avail. The Oracle 35 watt is basically the same form factor but uses a 4300K bulb.

Thanks for the response, BVH. What a ponderous situation.

Is there any economical way to simply purchase an aftermarket replacement bulb in a warmer tint?

And thanks for the recommendation on the Oracle. While in lurk mode, I've perused a few threads concerning the 24W Oracle HID. At the time, it seemed as though a lot of folks were having problems with them. Are the 35W lights proving more reliable?

I would also purchase the Oracle even though it's longer than the Microfire. I own the K3500, it's a good light, but I think they're over priced to be honest. Form factor or not I'd even rather have an L35 for much less.

If you can pick a K3500 used, for cheap, different story. If you're going to buy new consider the Oracle. You might also PM CPF member Windstrings. I believe his Oracle 35W is up for sale.

P.S. regarding the bulb, there is no easy way of installing a warmer color temp. It's potted into the ballast assembly and so it proprietary.

I had the first DC Oracle 24 and returned it for the new AC 24 Watt. No issues with the AC version so far.

Others are more familiar with the 35 Watt and could probably give you better info.

I don't think a bulb change out is easy/possible with the Microfire but again, others could offer better intel.

It CAN be done, but is not worth it cost wise, the amount of work wise, and not to mention it didn't perform as well as i would have liked wise. You can read more here about the Mod. if you like. I would agree with the above advice, those guys know their stuff, on buying a light that has the colour temp. you want to begin with.
