Midget Wrestling with Beamshots

The Legend LX was the first CPF recommended flashlight that I purchased (just a couple days ago). I just happened to be at Walmart and I figured I might as well pick up the flashlight that everyone says is brighter than an $80 SureFire. Needless to say, I've been extremely impressed with it and would still be impressed if it cost twice as much (its only $19.97). Everyone I've shown has been impressed as well.

Just tonight I compared it to my buddy's 6D Maglite and the LX was brighter (although he complained that his batteries were half worn).

And why haven't people raved about the tailswitch? Great feel and positive action. I'm still a Flashlight newbie but this really seems like a must own for only $20 bucks.

Has anybody done any neat mods to this? LS or brighter bulbs? And I think I'm one of the few that likes the rubber grips...

I don't think so, not without some modding, the SF setup is pretty proprietary...

Anyone ever removed the rubber then tried to paint that flashlight black? Any thoughts? Making it look a bit less shiney?

Good idea. Should do a wipe down with straight vinegar first, wait 15 minutes, rinse off and then paint when completely dry. Etches the surface microscopically, helps paint get a better bite in the aluminum...

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Funny you should mention that. Just put an R60 LA(pre P60) into one of my LX's. Stock LX is slightly brighter however. This is explained by the above current draws.

Ok, somewhat off topic here, but I just did the production for an actual Midget Wrestling match. Quite entertaining. Took a few movies with my digital cam. You can see them here.

Back on topic, that's a good idea to paint the LX. Black would certainly make it less noticeable on your belt. The removal of the rubber grip worked great for getting the light in and out of my holster. Just make sure your holster holds the light with a strap across the top or something because it slips in and out quite easily.
