Sold/Expired Milkyspit Mods, Thoughts, Eye Candy [LOTS OF PHOTOS] Part 4

Candle Power Flashlight Forum

Help Support CPF:

I bought a Milky modded KL2 head this week and it comes in Monday's mail. Four Cree XP-G emitters behind optics. I'm extremely excited as this'll be my first Milkyspit thing.

tape (from the sellers thread) says: X1004.4 4x CreeXP-GR51C Tina-XP-D Acorn 1.3 fw:'C-Steamboat'

the lower line says custom aluminum heatsink and that it can run 2x RCR or 3x primaries, but can y'all tell me what exactly all that in the quoted tape means? I know the "XP-GR51C" means it's got four Cree XP-G LEDs of the R5 efficiency bin at 1C tint, but what's the rest of the stuff mean?

What is this head capable of that can be tapped into? Are Milky's heads easily upgraded to newer LEDs?

I bought it as a 2-level, high/low head here.

Here's my guess: "X" means it's in Milky's real bright X-series ("M" is his line of super well-regulated). I think "1004" is the output on High. Dunno about the ".4" Four levels? I'm guessing Tina-xp-d is the optic he used? Acorn is the firmware, what he used in the Milky Candle, the Gotham, etc. "1.3 C-steamboat" would be the version of the firmware with certain user-interface, various drive levels, etc.

So you see it's as simple as that.

PS: Also, there could more than one user interface in there, including at least one with four levels. Try giving it 20 taps to see if you can move from on UI to another.

Hi, I bought a Milky and need help understanding the following label:

X325.4 SSCP4 USWOH IMS 7CUT ACORN1.3 TACTICAL V6.06.28.01

It is the "X325.4" I need to know. The light is a single 18650, I would also like to know if this is limited to a single cell.

Thank you

eXtreme output at the cost of reduced efficency.
325 Lumens. Point 4 - don't know.

Buried in one post, of one thread, of that search ... appears to suggest that the ".4" is for "multi-brightness" (and "X" for "eXtreme output" , and 325 for maximum lumens, as you already correctly noted) . Looks like gottawearshades guess was right

Haven't heard anything from you Scott? Are you still on the road to returning lights?

Yes, I'm in the process of unwinding and returning items from the various projects. There's a lot to clear out and I've been tackling it in stages. Getting there.

As an aside: some people still haven't sent their updated contact info. Anyone who hasn't done so (especially if you may have moved since sending your work), please contact me with updated information ASAP.

Thanks for the Update Scott. Looking forward to it. I am now planning some alternate projects for those lights and pieces.

Bumpity-bump--
Hi Scott, how's it going? Anything we can do to help you, please don't hesitate to ask. We are all here cheering for you Scott. Be well my friend.

Dan

Getting very close to my trips... Again, I'd REALLY like to have this light for them. Caves and mines... prime flashlight territory. Can I please get an update?

Has anyone had contact with Scott? Is he buried in snow? Is progress/communication simply not possible right now or are we being ignored?

I communicated with Scott recently. He has been/ is currently working his way through the various mods/projects that we are waiting for. He is not ignoring anyone. Any comments about that are wrong. He is diligently working on our stuff. I have known Scott going on almost 10 years now. He will not abandon us. I am waiting for some mods from him also. Remember, it took a long to get into this mess. It will take some time to get out.

I personally am very grateful to Scott that he hasn't just given up, dropped out of sight completely and stiffed all of us, just like a handful of other modders/builders have done in the past. Scott cares about his reputation here. He takes pride in his work. And he is very, very sorry for the mess, confusion and delay that has been caused by all of this. It hurts him greatly that he has fallen short of the expectations of so many of us here. He truly never meant for any of this to get so out of control. Similar scenarios have happened to other modders/builders and have been far less willing to make good on all their projects that got catastrophicly sidetracked.

Scott is working. Believe it. Once he finally, someday, gets caught up, he may never accept any new projects ever again. I wouldn't blame him at all if that happens. Either way, Scott has been in solution mode now. I, for one, am pulling for him and praying for him through all of this. Go Scott go!

Very well said. Kudos for having such faith in the man, and putting the good CPF members' minds at ease.

I will say that anyone with any amount of history on CPF can recall these same issues - varying in intensity - going back for years. One only has to check in on the Milky Mod thread from time to time to have a full awareness of what he/she is getting into by requesting a mod from Scott. He does awesome work, but there is no real timetable on completion. I've had my experiences years back just like so many others. It's just the way it is. The fact that so many remain loyal and die-hard Milky fans is a true testiment to the amazing, ground-breaking work that he is able to do.

Yes. Well said and all but once again we're facing the same problem... communication. We last heard from Scott a month ago. It's been 3.5 months since I asked to have my light (completed or not, assembled or not) in my hands within a month. I knew I had some caving/mine trips coming up where I would love to have my light and be upset if I didn't. I requested it with plenty of time before my trips so I could either complete it myself or find someone to do it for me. I'll be leaving for the first within a month and I will venture to guess I will not have my light. Color me pissed. Again.

Let me ask this, Scott. How long should we wait for a response before we feel ignored?
