Re: Mini-Maglite AA Drop-in kit - 2nd Run

Mine also arrived today, but I have a question.

One was wrapped in yellow graph paper, and the other included an empty baggie with curious characters on it.

Which is warm...the one in yellow paper?

:thanks:

Hi donn,

The left yellow graph paper is cool tint.
The right one with Chinese characters is warm tint.

:)

hello,

my kit just arrived today. i installed it with all the included parts but when i put the batteries in all i got was a puff of smoke. i took everything apart and the module was warm. haven't tried it again but i'm afraid i fried the driver or LED.

i'm not sure what i could have done wrong. =(

i would love a replacement if possible.

after my post i went back and compared the drop in to the pictures in the first post. it seems the leads to the LED on mine are exposed instead of having that cloudy looking material. could that cause an issue?

i'm talking about this pic:

If the leads of led are too high, the Brass Retain ring could short the cicuit. :poof:
Even I test each one of them, some problems are still there.
Sorry for the inconvenience caused.
Will send the replacment asap.

Hi Charles,

It looks like you have a few left. If so, I'd like 2 more kits. Please confirm, and I'll send Paypal.

By the way, the warm emitter is very nice. I discovered an old McFlood reflector fits and works perfectly with it, and it is a most pleasing working beam.

Any chance of more warms? I'd take at least two of them.

Re: Mini-Maglite AA Drop-in kit - 2nd Run

Hi! Those drop-ins sound like what I need to rejuvenate my dim minimags 2xAA! :) I have some questions:
- would those work with a Nite-Ize clickie switch? How many amps would they feed the led with those switches?
- are you planning to make an higher-driven version, or a multi-mode?
- which colour temp are the warm ones?
- about how man lumens to those things put out?
- how much to ship to Europe?

Sorry for the many questions, I thank you in advance for taking the time to reply. Kudos for making those drop-ins btw! ;)

Re: Mini-Maglite AA Drop-in kit - 2nd Run

Thanks again, donn

irv_usc, 2x warm ?

chenko,

This kit work like original format.
Tighten the head to turn OFF, loose the head to turn ON.
It will work with any clickie switch.
400mA to LED.
No plan to make other than single mode 400mA.
Warm tint ~5000K
Below is R3 vs stock miniMag LED, R5 will be slighty brighter.
$4 ship worldwide.
:thanks:

Re: Mini-Maglite AA Drop-in kit - 2nd Run

Charles,
I received my drop ins yesterday. Great product! Thank you! They are really bright and I love the tint on the warm emitter. It is brighter than a couple of custom emitters that I have! All the best.

Regards.

Re: Mini-Maglite AA Drop-in kit - 2nd Run

I got my kit today. Thanks for providing this great kit!!

However, can someone help me to verify which emitter I got?
I was supposed to get the warm tint, but I think I got the cool tint.
Compared to the my Surefire KX2 lego, it even cooler.
