Does anyone have any experience with the Nite-Ize traffic safety wand for the Mini Mag-Lite 2AA, called the Glow Spot?

What about visibility (with fresh batteries)? I am particularly interested in the red model for roadside emergencies.

They are pretty good, for the size. I keep a pair in my patrol bag, one white, and one yellow, ( no reason, the store hd one yellow, and one white). They work just fine for traffic direction, and give my MiniMags a purpose.

Not easy to do these days, is it?

Thanks Scott. Now I'm wondering what the best color for low-light traffic signalling would be. I tend to think that it's red, because car headlights are white, so a white colored wand would blend in with traffic much more thus reducing your presence. On the other hand, rear car lights are red, and yellow (amber) is generally a brighter (more noticeable) color in the color spectrum. Hmmm...

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I haven't used the Glow Spot wands, but I have all three colours for my full-size MagLites. IMO, yellow would be your best choice. Although the white would be brighter, I doubt it would have the "warning" effect that you're looking for. I think you'd find that the red would be too dim: the only light that my red cone looks good on is my Mag Charger.

With a AA mini-mag, you don't have a lot of light to work with, and yellow is the best compromise between brightness and appropriate colour. Something else to consider - most AA mini-mag accessories also fit the E1 & E2 Surefire lights, in which case you'd have plenty of light to make the red cone a good choice.

Yellow is probably the best choice, I agree. I also suggest that you put a one centimeter,(or one half inch in real measurements), ring of reflective tape around the base and the tip. That way if you lose a bulb, or the batteries die, you still have a workable wand, and you don't lose that much of the lighting surface.

Thanks for the help guys.

Avro, I know what you mean with the red Maglite cone looking good on the MagCharger. I saw two police officers directing traffic with this combination a while ago and it was really really bright! Like
