I had an L0D RB80 on my keychain for almost a year before I lost it. Then, I got the Baltic in brass from Peak. Question: is it as good? YES!!

Firstly, many have complained that their website is stoopid. Agree 100%: when I ordered, I called, and complained to the helpful, polite gentleman (whom, I am assuming, was the owner or co-owner); he seemed to be blissfully unconcerned. The Baltic is a 1xAAA like the L0D; it is available in brass, but this is NOT listed on the website. I know about it only because of a post by RobynS.

I do not have my faithful L0D nor a digital camera, so you will not get comparative beamshots or size comparisons; you will have to take my word for it.

IMHO, the Peak Baltic Brass is better than the L0D. It is a little heavier (1 oz vs. 2.5 oz.), and a little longer by ¼ or ½ inch. As such, it is kinda marginal as a keychain torch, but I have used it daily as such and I find it to be wonderful once you get used to the slightly larger size, not to mention the weight (hey, c'mon, this puppy is solid brass).

About price: this info is kinda time-oriented. The full-priced Baltic and L0D are similar $$$ (the difference is an Abraham Lincoln). When I ordered, Peak offered 50% off if you ordered a Lux III version rather than P4, and so I did.

Most important: the light it gives is similar to that I got from the L0D. It was like an old friend who came back to party. But here is the best part: it is a simple twisty on/off. I do not have to twist and turn 3 times and point my left foot towards Nashville to get max light. There is no PMW to deal with, and no SOS or Strobe modes to navigate around to avoid (hallelujah).

Runtime? The included packaging indicates 8+ hours. Not quite. Using the included new AAA alky, I got 2 hours of solid runtime before the light began to noticeably weaken. So, yes indeed, this puppy has a good, long moon mode that will give you 5+ hours of more light (course, at the end, it was no brighter than a fauxton). All in all, darn good runtime on a cheapie AAA batt.

Do I recommend this to anyone who wants a bullet-proof, reliable pocket torch? :D

I wonder about who you would declare the winner if it was the LD01 being put up as the fenix contender?

For small lights I try to focus on the time it runs in regulation.

There is no contest if you want to talk about build quality!
I support Peak all the way in that reguard and in a keychain light it is very important.

It would be super to have a brass Peak built with potted Fenix electronics.

I've not played with that one specifically, but Peak is a great company and they make great lights.

You probably spoke with Kurt. He was also blissfully unconcerned when they forgot a flashlight in my 3 light order, then didn't ship it out to me until nearly 2 weeks afterwards. Nor did he seem concerned when I inquired if Robyn got the message I left with him the day before. Sorry to hijack your thread, but I am not happy with them right now. Great lights, but they need to get their act together.

10440? Could be. I would be willing to bet that they do have a board designed for 14500 or 10440, but just don't bother to list in on their website. Try calling them live and ask.
Unfortunately, I no longer have my L0D RB80, so cannot do a direct comparison. Based on my rather crusty memory, the Baltic is less bright, but only by a small margin. It is pretty close.

Hi,

Which Baltic power level did you get (hp,up, xlr...). I cant find info on battery life versus power level (single aaa battery) anywhere?

thanks
Brian
