Please don't consider this a double post. I realized today that this forum might be better than the mods forum for this question. I posted yesterday in the Mods section, but no one seems to know what the brightest incandescent is for the Minimag.

I also would like some voltage options, as I have MM's with 3 volts, 5.3 volts, and 6 volts.

The brightest bulbs for 2AA are the Brinkmann Nextstar bulbs.
I have used the Nextstar 2AA bulb with lithium batteries and it is brighter and whiter than the stock MiniMag bulb. I have a MiniMag set up like this with the addition of a Acrylite lense and it is the brightest 2AA incandescent that I've seen. This combination is still inferior to a BB/MM Sandwich IMHO.

Brinkmann also has a 3AA bulb on their site. It's not a Nextstar bulb, I haven't tried it so I don't know how bright it is.

I'll offer my opinion that the two better "bulb" choices for minimags are both LED's. The Opalec newbeam is the long running lower output light and the sandwiches from the sandwich shoppe are the high output choices. After using both of these options, I find that I simply cannot use a minimag with an incandescent bulb - I find that the output level and beam quality are so bad that I just can't stand to turn one on. Using modern lights with good reflectors or LED lights really takes the fun out of using old lights like a stock minimag. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
