Thanks to Opalec and Inretech, I have some 2AAs that are getting a fair bit of use now. Only problem is that the new Mag AA with its new nylon sheath are a slippery pair. Running, jumping, or laying horizontally causes it to fall out. Short of wrapping the barrel in rubber bands, is there an easy way to fix this?

Mag Instruments sells a sheath with a velcro flap. It's pretty decent; not as heavy as a SureFire sheath, but 1/3 the price, and very servicable. I bought one at the local Galyan's for about $4, and cut it to fit my SureFire E2 + KL1. I can't find the package for the part number; you might find it on their web site.

Also, Mag Instruments has a toll free number: 800 283-5562
Good luck.

Edit: OK, found the package (I am *such* a pack-rat).
It's Model number AM2A056
Part number 108-000-448
The UPC code is 38739 10855
Fits belts up to 2 1/4"

I have a Raine 012H. It can be worn horizontally or vertically.

If you look at the picture, you can see there is a piece of elastic over the head of the light. I found it unnecessary, and carefully cut it off.
Mostly I wore it horizontally, with a mini-mag, a Leatherman Supertool, and a brass pen I used to have (It was sweet, a Rotring, and stolen).
I ran down the flightline, worked in tight spaces snagging it on things, and hung upside down working, and it never ONCE fell out.
I got mine in a uniform shop in Lousyana for under $7, I don't know what the go for online though. It is sold as an EMT pouch, and behind everything, there is a slot big enough to put a pair of scissors.
There is a vertical version of it, that I think is cheaper, it's model # is 0012.

I use this holster from MagLite at work. It holds the light in very securely and I do some jumping and a lot of laying down. Sometimes I'm even laying down with my feet above my head and the light stays put.

Here's a pic of my sheath for work. It's designed for use with minimag and leatherman supertool, but it fits my leatherman wave perfectly. It's a great home for my opalec w/kroll tailcap. FYI, I used a 14mm deep socket to stretch the flashlight opening so that the rubber of the kroll switch would slide in & out with less resistance. The sheath is available here

there is a company t6hat makes really high quality sheaths for lights and tools....a lot of them are available with a snap or velcro closure. In many cases you have a choice between belt loop and a strong stainless pocket clip. IMHO they are reasonably priced for the quality .

I have been wearing the NITEIZE pock-its utility holster you can remove the stiches in the leatherman pocket and carry 2 mag size lights I often carry mag-opalec & mag-badboy 400 + keys & other items.I think I got mine at wallmart aprox.12$

Thanx for all the answers!

I have a small leather piece leftover from a knife sheath, I think I'll make one as a long-term solution; Thanks to ksbman for that idea. I'm also considering a kydex break-away sheath. If that happens and works out well, I'll post some pics.

For the short term, the sheath from a Dorcy is longer and it fits in there much better than in the Mag one that came with it. The Dorcy (Dopalec) is going in the console anyway.

I have to second the Nite-ize:

I carry my Gerber Multiplier and MiniMag/Newbeam. It's about 3 years old, and the stitching on the velcro belt strap is weakening, but for $12, I can't complain.

The big advantage of this one is that rear strap. It's velcro, so you can remove and replace the pouch without undoing one's belt.

I found what I can only guess is an "upgrade" Minimag sheath in a hole-in-the-wall hardware store. Full Maglight packaging and tag on it. Model # AM2A056 Part# 108-000-448. It has a velcro flap over the top and a belt loop that is closed on the bottom with velcro so it can be put on and off the belt without removing the belt. It seems really well made and is the permanent home of my blue-white Lambda Ill Pill Minimag.

Looks like they range from 4 to 6 bucks. If you search for the model# in yahoo you'll find a bunch of stores.

[Edit] whoops... should have read Gandalf's post first...
