ANYBODY NOTICE THAT THE L4 IS NOT IN THE 2008 CATALOG,I THOUGHT IT WAS A FAVORITE, IT IS ONE OF MINE. MY FIRST POST IM SOMBODY NOW!

I have no idea what you're talking about, but try not to shout.

If it is true, then there will be a mad dash to buy up all existing L4s. I will have to keep an eye on BST.

Paul

The L4 as well as the U2 do not appear in the 2008 catalog. They both are still listed on the website which has not been updated with the new 2008 lights.

Adiós L4 & U2?

No matter what the latest is, the L4 will remain one of my favorites.

Mark

Yep, I noticed that too. Very interesting. But they have kept the L2. Seems like Surefire is focusing more on multi-output lights. Of course, there is the single stage E2DL which maybe they are using to take the place of the L4-except with more spot than flood.

I'm still somewhat dissappointed SF did not upgrade the L4 with one of the new SSC P7 LEDS and TIR optics. I was hoping for a revamped L4 this year. :mecry:

If it has in fact been disconinued, it will definately live on as a legendary light.

I do not recall anyone from Surefire stating the L4 is discontinued.

I understand they were not in the 2008 catalog as something being upgraded but there is no need to speculate that there are or could be discontinued until we here it direct from Surefire.

Do not get upset yet guys. :candle:

I love how everyone just assumes something based on the catalog. A year ago the catalog told us we were going to get an L5 that could do 120 lumens for 4 hours, and look at what came of that.

:crackup::crackup::twothumbsTRUE....SO TRUE!!!

I'll poop in my pants if all these beauties are'nt released though..:sick2:

I want to mod my KL4 with a P7 when they're available:naughty:

.

Surefire is certainly an interesting company:huh:

In many ways they remind me of Harley-Davidson, as both share similar market positions. And both are the '800 pound gorilla' in their respective profit centers.

The U2 has been hugely updated
Updated would indicate that the current version will continue to exist with newer/better features. But the UA2 looks totally unlike the U2, and the UB2 looks only vaguely like the U2. Technologically better - without a doubt - no one will argue that the SSC P7 is anything but today's state of the art emitter. Functionally as good - maybe. As handsome as the U2 -

interesting indeed
Surefire has always been known to be especially well-refined on incandescent legs...so whats all this stuff about LEDs?:eek:oo:

When 6PL came out personally I was shocked by the creation [!?]
then I saw the catalog and ouch....aside from the new "short arc" lights my perspective of what made surefire great kinda changed completely in the last couple hours. :ohgeez:
not necessarily anything negative...just no longer so superior on the "incan" side

I love how everyone just assumes something based on the catalog. A year ago the catalog told us we were going to get an L5 that could do 120 lumens for 4 hours, and look at what came of that.

then again...all the catalogs [well, ones I own from 2003] include ALL of their current productions in its pages, whether its a new addition or not...the new catalog seem to be missing several of the lights we know and love...[the L4 and E1E for examples]

DVM759, I'm with you on the L4, but before I elaborate in my reasons, can you please unlock your caps?:ironic:
cap everything is seen as shouting and shouting is usually not the way we do things on the forum :)

The C2, C3, 9P, L4, L5, and U2 all do not appear in the 08' catalog.

-Evan

The C2 is still there--it has been "upgraded" from incandescent to LED. Quoting from page 40 of the 2008 Catalog:
"We've taken our C2 Centurion® and our Z2 and
G2Z CombatLights—all of which have stepped-down bodies and a rubber grip
ring so they can be paired with a handgun and activated like a syringe—and
replaced their incandescent lamp with a higher-output, longer-running LED
assembly."

The 9P is listed with specifications on page 76 of the 2008 Catalog.

I have found no reference to the C3, L4, L5, or U2 in the 2008 Catalog. But as others have mentioned--that doesn't necessarily mean that Surefire has dropped them from production.

The KL4 LED head is in the 2008 Tactical catalog. It's on the Scout Light Weaponlight. From the catalog: "...brilliant but diffused beam make it ideal for interior close-quarter engagements and other short-range applications..."
:)

:crackup:I envy your wishful thinking :D:twothumbs
Maybe the same thing will happen with the HA-NAT A2…:faint::poke:
If SureFire decides to kill the A2, Fountain Valley - CA would receive hordes of furious CPFers throwing stuff at their facilities... Or looting their factories for the last blisters left...
