I just had to post this. I have had my MM+ R2H in my mini-mag for awhile now, very bright, and my MM+Q3L in my little mmm. I switched them today. The R2H+ sandwich is in the mmm, and what a difference. As bright as my standard non + MM Q3L in a two cell mini-mag. Of course, this is sutjective; the closet lumen test. It is much brighter than the Q3L+ in the MMM. This will be my favorite little light.

Bullzeyebill,
Did you test it with both the NX-05 and the Fraen? I'm just wondering what made the difference. Was it the Fraen, the MM+,or the R2H? I know you can't test the MM+R2H separately, but what is your opinion?

The R2H made the difference. I tried it with both MM+R2H and MM+Q3L. The MM+R2H is really wide open, and it is pulling 850mA's from one 2000mAh NiMH battery. Pulling more than my MM+Q3L in mmm. Of course quality of beam, to me, is great with fraen. We are dealing with LD vs HD here.

tylerdurden, I am not sure. I think it might help with run time, but an R2L would probably be brighter. More forward voltage. Not sure though, as this WO is putting out a lot of current.

If an R2H and a R2L are driven at the same current, the R2H should run longer, but both should be approximately equally bright. The R2H would require a lower Vf to drive it at the given current, therefore lower total power, which should translate to more runtime for the same power source. Both of them should be equally bright at the rated current (350mA?), and I am *assuming* that the brightness will scale similarly on both as the current increases, but I havent seen any data that would back this up.

Bill, been noticing the same thing comparing my R2H/MM WO in a 1x AA StopLite to an older BB400 in a miniMag--not sure how much is converters and how much is bin ...

but 1.5V beats 3V /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

affirmative, Bullzeyebill and ailsnail, his newest modular light is the cnc-123, also a sweetie.

just do a search on either--there are several threads
