MN21 in a M4?

nope i think that will blow the bulb. now you can have 2x18650 in your m4 then it will work. but the MN21& MN20 runs on 9 volts just like the M3T but with higher amperage.

hope this helps!

MN21 needs two stacks of three in series 123's. It would not work in the three cell configuration. It would pull way too much current.

Get 2 unprotected 18650's and a Leef 2 X 18650 body and then you can use the KT turbohead from the M4 and the tailcap too. Guilt-free 500 lumens! I've been meaning to do this myself but school is stealing my flashlight funds.

Don't know if AW's protected 18650's cells will run the bulb because of the high current. Would be nice though with protected cells if its possible.

No. I've tried it. Even AWs new protected 18650s wont light it up. It's got to be his unprotected versions.

As already mentioned: It's very doable with the leaf body and unprotected cells. But should only be done by those ready to accept the risks of the setup. To minimize those risks, the user should be well educated on the conditions that cause Li-Ion problems. The user should do preventative testing before and after every charge and discharge. The cells should be abandoned after about 100 shallow-medium discharge cycles.

Would 2x18650 protected cells in a leef body light up the MN20 then?

it'd probably make more sense to just buy an M6.

I wish....I think I'll sell the bulb before buying an M6 to go with the bulb.
J/k.......I'm sure eventually I'll end up with one..
My collection has already got out of hand.....

The MN21 draws about 5 amps, so you should probably have the best 18650's for this setup, LG2400's. Still, this setup puts you at the upper limits of the cells' abilities.

Will it work?
What voltage does the M6 run?

My favorite M4 solutions is 3x3.7 Lions and a dummy. Improves The M4 greatly. Previously, I was not impressed with either lamp in the M4. In my M6 I use both the FiveMega Adapter 6 AW 17670s, and I can switch back To the regular size by using the "3 Volt" Powerizers. This only works with the MN20. Produces nice beam due to slightly over-driving the MN20. Both cofigurations blow the MN21.

Yep...works great for me. Just tried 2 brand new AW protected 18650's in a Leef body w/ a KT4-HA head and MN20 LA. Works like a charm.

But how would that be any different from a MN16?
Is the beam different?

OK I've got a 2x18650 Leef body with KT1 TH and I run an MN16 LA, I've also got an MN61 that my unprotected 18650's won't power completely. How is it possible to power a 500 lumen LA with the same setup, i'm new to rechargables so bear with me if this is dumb question.

Because the MN21 is a 9V bulb the M6 is a 9 volt light it just runs 2 sets of 3 CR123's in series in parallel. So if a normal CR123 is 1300mAh the M6 battery pack ends up being a 9V 2600mAH battery pack and running 2 18650 batteries is very close to the same power as the M6 pack.
