Modding a streamlight survivor - CREE or SSC

Hi,

I have a Streamlight Survivor LED that a friend asked me to replace the LUX3 emitter with a more efficient LED, either a CREE or a SSC. Have a few questions in mind...

1) Any advice on whether the CREE or the SSC would suit the stock survivor circuitry and reflector better? The reflector is very deep, almost 2 inches, but its is a smooth type. Would it be able to project the CREE well?

2) Also, what is the difference in die height between the Lux, CREE and SSC? I remember a post with pics of the different emitter die heights, couldn't find it.

3) Is this emitter from DX a 80 lm/w or 100 lm/w? Tried to find the SSC datasheet online, no success.

4) Whats the difference between these 2 emitters and the one above?(other than the star base)

Sorry for the multiple questions, thanks very much for the advice!!

:thanks:

Ok, thanks for the info. So i will be getting this bare U bin SSC P4 from DX, and just swap out the lux 3, with the 0.027" shim underneath.

Firemedic262,
Do you use Artic alumina underneath the LED die? Is the heatsink anodised? No issues with shorting the anode and cathode to the heatsink right, furthermore don't think its connected to the leads on the survivor.

K, will order now.
