Has anybody modded this light at all? I have an extra SSC p4 u bin laying around and was thinking about swapping the lux for the ssc, but was hoping somebody could verify whether I need to insulate the slug or not?

BTW, anybody notice how tempramental this light is when reassembling the pill?

The comment below was written in a review of the SSC P4 U-bin emitter on Deal Extreme by a DX member named desolder:

This is *almost* a drop in replacement for Luxeons. Seoul ties the heat slug to the anode (positive), but Luxeons have their slug tied to the cathode (negative). If your heatsink is tied to the negative, you will need to either isolate the LED with mica or kapton, or rewire the device you are upgrading so the heatsink is either floating, or tied to positive.
The regulator will also need to be reworked or replaced if you are upgrading from a lower powered emitter. In my case, there was a 5.6 ohm resistor which I swapped out with a 2.0 ohm resistor.

Yeah, I'm aware of the slug positive issues with ssc p4's. Was hoping somebody would know if the emiter mount is hot or not.

Hi! I'm a newbie and wanted to know whether there are any drop-in modules that would fit the Victorinox 2AA flashlight. If so, what designation or nomenclature do I look for?

If not, I think I think I'll tinker with some of my other lights before dissecting this one. (It's my wife's flashlight and I would never hear the end of it, if I blew it!)

I have done a few of these with the SSC. Just use artic aluminum and you will be ok.

I think it is some type of semi-regulated boost circuit. I'll look at these again and let you know.

Alright, circuit experts chime in! Here's the pictures of the circuit on the bottom side.
