im a new member but i have been lurking a while, i finaly registered cuz i have a question i have to ask, i just bought a nitecore extreme r2, what all bodies can i put on it i have seen/heard about NEx heads on surefire single cell bodies, can i put a 2 cell body on it like a 6p?:candle:

2 cell bodies with a 17670 work great with the Nitecore extreme. I've used a E2D body, but there are other cheaper options:

Vital Gear FB2 BK, (flashlight body, 2 cell, black)- $40

I'd ask the sellers if they fit 17670s just to be sure. Not all Surefire or other 2 cell bodies are wide enough.

@nofair, doesnt run to much juice through it?

any body on cpf make a custom SS bezel for em' since u nitecore seems to have quit making them?

also, ordering some rc123's and charger, can i get a body to fit a 18650, 1500mah battery, and actualy run it?

im planning on sticking to rc123a for now should i go with AW Li-ion or Lifepo4

thanks 4 the replies

Here is my NEX with a SF E1E head, Lumens Factory EO-E1R rocking an AW RCR123 and a Ti pocket clip. Thanks and props to CPFer bdusseau who told me about the clip.

Using a single 17670 is no risk. The light draws no more juice than on a rcr123.

There are 18650 compatible bodies: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=217337, but I'm not sure any are being made at the moment. You could post a "want to buy"

I'd go with AW li-ions for rcr123s for the NEX.

what risk would there be running a 2cell cr123 body?

The electronics in the NEX head can't handle over 4.2V so using 2 cr123s (6V) or 2 rcr123 (about 8V) would fry the electronics. A 17670 is the same size as 2 cr123s and fits in a 2 cell body, but supplies the same voltage as an AW rcr: 4.2v. It just has 2 times the amount of energy so your light will run 3 times as long.

SO are you going to post pictures of your modified NEX when you get it completed? I'm a big NEX fan myself, and regularly carry a lightly modified GDP loaded Extreme
