Can anyone tell me the output of each individual setting? I know the first and last are 2 and 80. (I really wish they still made them at 100+ lumens) I'm hoping the next to last is about 60 lumens.

Each step down drops power to the LED roughly in half. With lower drive currents, efficiency increases, so lumens won't fall quite as fast as power does. I would guess that level 5 will be more than 40 lumens, perhaps approaching 60 lumens.

The worst U2 should put out at least 80 lumens on 6. Many will exceed this, some of them greatly. Its a crapshoot.

Is the LED a star? Can it be swapped out easily? I was thinking of getting one but not if the output sucks compared to my L4.

The L4 is still an impressive wall of light, will really light up a room.

But outside, the U2 will kill the L4.
Its tighter spot, and I think brighter output, really makes it out perform the l4 in large wooded area, yards etc.

Beamshape is the main difference I guess.
L4 is very very wide spot fades to wide flood,
U2 is a decent hotspot, sill is much more narrow.

This beamshot i did doesnt really show the difference all that well, I need to do some outdoor shots soon.

SureFire do not use "stars"

The U2's LED looks like this:
