Name of Product:
Anker PowerCore 10000 power banks (model A1263 only)

Hazard:

The lithium-ion battery in the power bank can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers.

Remedy:

Replace

Recall Date:
June 12, 2025

Units:

About 1,158,000

Thank you for posting this... I don't have any of the recalled batteries, but do use (and fly with) many battery packs, including Anker, and appreciate the heads-up. I'd much rather deal with the spicy pillow on the ground.

I had purchased an Anker power bank at Walmart not too long ago, but it is a different model from the recall--I hope that model is the only one that has the problem!

Based on reading the link provided by SOL, it seems like some older power banks were perhaps not cared for or understood very well, as well as protection circuits were not as evolved(?)

I'm on the Anker email promotion list. They are really pushing larger home battery backup systems. They are likely the safer lithium ferrous phosphate (LFP) chemistry.

We had use for the Anker Solix a couple evenings ago; it ran a DC capable compact refrigerator all night, until the sun was high enough in the sky next day to make us power again.

Thank you for sharing the Anker recall notice. I gifted a good friend and Anker power bank for his birthday about three years ago. I have no idea which model it was, but I'll be sure to forward the recall notice, just in case.

Help me, Please !

I do indeed have an Anker A1263 (10,000) power bank,
but try as I might, I simply just CANNOT find their list
of affected Serial Numbers ! ! ! :awman::stupid:

Can somebody kindly post a *LINK*
to those Serial Numbers ?

Thank You, Everyone !

Did you click the link in the first post? All of the info is right there, including the link to the serial # list.

This is the fourth recall from Anker regarding faulty/hazardous batteries in their power banks. Not a great track record. I've had nothing but issues with some of their products over the years, most recently their USB-C PD chargers. Got rid of anything Anker I owned and moved on to other manufacturers for those products.

* UPDATE * !

Okay, I mistakenly thought there would be
a LIST of affected Serial Numbers !

but --
they instead require us to ENTER
our Serial Number, and THEN it displays
whether or not mine is one of the
Unlucky Batch.

NOW i understand . . . .

I have one of the "lucky" serial number units. You're supposed to write "recall" in permanent marker on the bank. It's black. I've reached out to Anker to see what they suggest for making blue, red, or back permanent marker appear on a black plastic case.

You can get paint markers. I think that I have seen white and silver available. Or, you could cut out a stencil, and spray paint the word on it. Worst case scenario, some silver duct tape and a Sharpie marker. EZ, PZ.

Paint marker worked on mine, blue. I have one of the impacted batteries, bought it 7 years ago, had still been using it, even last week. Thanks for the post, I won't use it any more.

So they don't want them returned, just put RECALL on it then send a photo?

Most things with lithium batteries should be using LFP. Most likely this power bank was using a pair of 21700 cells giving about 36 Wh. A pair of 21700 LFP cells would give about 19.2 Wh. Not worth the hazard to get the extra capacity. Or just use 4 LFP cells instead of 2 li-ion if you really need similar capacity. Most things aren't so space or weight critical as to justify using a far more dangerous chemistry. LFP is also generally cheaper per Wh.

that's correct. I didn't consider just putting tape on the power bank and writing on it as Sol Man suggested. Since I've traded several emails with their support, and now they are silent, I'm thinking that's what I'll do.

I just returned from flying cross country twice with that power bank, it's seen light duty for almost 10 years and seems fine. I likely wouldn't fly with it again, but don't have any plans to take it out of service at this time.

I'm curious what other manufacturers you have gone with now. Care to enlighten us?
