can your eye tell the difference between it and an Arc aaa or LE?
I really like the possibility here...talk to us man.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">The CMG Ultra is NOT a piece of junk!-it's extremely well made, just like the Infinity. My comments were strictly about brightness.

Like an Infinity but twice as bright.

Hmmm. I already love my blue-green Infinity.
I guess I will be gettin' an Ultra at some point!

Oh my, oh my...click on the ulta link above guys...notice something we have all been wanting CMG to do...or rather...not do? Something differant than the "G" version...something to make it brighter. Add this improvement...pop in a lithium...could it be brighter than our beloved Arc`s? Do you see it?

Ken

There is no anodizing on the reflector...nice and shiny...CPF folks have been stuggling for years, scrapping it off the reflector to gain a 10~15% output. Add a lithium for an additional 10~15% and we have a very nice light. Probably brighter than an Arc. Mr. Glows friend may have had the "G" version with green paint on the reflector...might not have had a lithium in it either. Bet this one`s going to be a winner.

Ken.....Just an FYI (brightness)
The Ultra G with fresh alk.cell measured 205 on the little G.E. meter.
By comparison, MY Infinity measured 100+ with a fresh alk.installed.

Regular ARCFinity=240
LE.........ARCFinity=295
All: same meter, same batteries.

Edit: batteries were swapped between the two units and produced exactly the same results.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">A friend of mine has the Ultra, but would not say where he got it.
I won't be getting one because side-by-side eyeball comparison showed it's not quite as bright as the standard Arc AAA.

Edit: It DOES appear to be an extremely well made light though,-just like it's sibling, the well-respected Infinity.

A flashaholic maniac friend of mine crazed with LED lights - has an Infinity blue-green. He claims the blue-green is brighter than the white. So my question is: Is this new Ultra twice as bright as the blue-green Infinity???

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Funny thing...I also have a newer blu/green Infinity that measures only 75 [!] (with fresh alk.batt) on the G.E.meter, and the white one that I have measures 105 but looks considerably dimmer than the blue green one.

Maybe that's because of wavelength sensitivity of the meter. So, I think the blue/green just fools your eyes when it comes to brightness perception. I really don't think it's twice as bright at all.

Howdy Folks,
what's my best best
bet on a small flashlight
ie Lutlra or AAA ARC?
or is there brighter in the sub $30 catagory?
do the 7 or 10 LED lights worth the higher $
??

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Thanks Doug, my Arc-Finity has my CPF Arc head on it and it`s bright for sure. The only reason I will probably buy a Ultra is so I can return the Arc head to its body. Also CMG has a better positive contact point in my opinion...less likely to wear out over time.

Both lights have there place...guess if I was taking a trip around the world (I did leave Tampa once for a 1 hour journey to Disney world) or was into camping (I spent the night in my shed once...way over on the other side of my yard...pissed off wife sindrome) and had to pick between the two the Ulta would be the one.

If I was stuck living in the USA (I am) I would go with the ARC...smaller and just too cool.

If I were a flashaholic...both of course. So it shall be.

I have the LE...hoping to get the Arc/finity adapter and I will get the Ultra...I might even go nuts and get the Arc EV!

I guess they do serve different purposes...Ultra seems appropriate for those demanding excursions where need for battery life trumps need for marginal extra brightness.

Having said that, the Arc is so small, so rugged and so useful it is really never away from me.

The arc/finity...well....you can never have too much of a good thing...

PS..for you arc/finity owners...does this mod really produce Arc brightness with infinity run time? what run time are you getting?..is this the ultimate small light>?
