I recently got another MTE light from DX - 5 mode Cree. I don't usually read the directions or other info in the box (this was the gift box unit I bought to give away). But I was looking at it to copy some info to a larger format for my friend and came across this in the Lifetime Guarantee at the bottom:
" The above guarantee does not cover sharkbite, bear attack or children under 5 " ROTFLOL !

Hahaha,
At least you know you're covered from killer whale or mountain lion attacks and angry 6 year olds.

MTE is actually a Singapore based company...just a btw fyi

but lol!

How pissed would you be if you got attacked by a bear and escaped, but it destroyed your light- you'd be like "aha, lifetime garuntee! oh, crap..."

i wouldnt be suprised if it was a dig at the pelican manul specifically, cos ,well, if the original place was the pelican manual, pretty damn funny and wierd still.

My MTE rebel 5 mode was destroyed by a 2 year old. damn.

i guess we can feel free sendin them back broken bits of lights for replacements then...as long as we're not under 5...can drooling and biting a flashlight really break it? or do kids these days have superpowers we dont know about?!?

I read the first post and immediately what came to my mind was what kind of low life pond scum would plagiarize a clever and funny exclusion of warranty stated by a company who is well respected for the warranty and customer service they do provide; with little if any questions asked.

I have read the balance of this thread and realize that it probably doesn't matter.

Maybe it's just me but I think MTE set a new standard in low with the use of that warranty exclusion. I know nothing about MTE but see no reason here to suspect there is anything worth knowing about them.

On the outside chance that someone from MTE catches this thread and in particular, my post, credit where credit is due.

IMHO, you guys (MTE) suck. :thumbsdow

What's up with foreign companies copying exact phrases straight from the other manufacturers? Just last week it was Malkoff and now Pelican. Plagiarism says alot about a company. I guess Chinese and Singaporean light manufacturers are just the same level when it comes to ethics... :thumbsdow

Seems like we can't discuss anything on CPF without people bashing Asian manufacturers. :duh2:

So they should get a free pass?

You engage in unethical behavior and people will call you unethical. Simple concept.

edit to add:

You want more proof, look up Goncz. Also check out the Goncz thread on the underground. Not Asian, slammed so hard it makes this thread seem like a love fest. Again simple concept. You engage in unethical behavior and people will call you unethical"

Why do you defend unethical behavior and feel MTE should get a free pass?
