Something so Extraordinary and Cool deserves Its own thread.
When have we seen a Flashlight with no Reflector?
It seems that Floody lights seem to be a better suit for most of our needs.

Can we please hear your thoughts, see your pictures, and some beamshots.

Some Bezel shots would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I think it is long overdue. I have used my q3 without the reflector and did like the flood. With real design, such as the mule, I would love one of these!

I will certainly give it my best to provide adequate beamshots this evening, I am sure the Right Coasters will beat me to it though...:twothumbs

Can't wait

I just checked the Mule out with my lightbox ala Quickbeam style. Not surprising, I'm getting identical measurements to my XR19-C on low - about 3 calc'd lumens - and nearly the same on high - 70 for the Mule and 75 for the XR19-C. The difference is caused by the lightbox's internal baffle which prevents light from the LED from directly reaching the light meter's sensor. In the Mule's case, though, it blocks a larger portion of the flood, so the measurement is on the low side.

OMG its even more painful seeing the mules coming out to graze, watching Dons thread unfold was bad enough watching them go one by one. being:broke:there was nothing i could do.BTW Don very very nice mules.:goodjob:.

My initial thoughts were that I would not have a practical use for this light..............that is until I twisted it to HIGH. :twothumbs

Great job Don

That is seriously what kept alot of seasoned flashaholics away from the McMule. To be honest, in my personal use, 90% of my illumination throw needs are 10 feet or closer. The mule provides nice, clean, evenly distributed illumination. Not having a hotspot can be nice people. :nana:

Yes PSM, I totally agree. It is not for everybody as mentioned previously, but it sure is a smooth beam. To me, having a light to work with that has no distractions within the beam (defined hotspot that does not blend well into the sidespill, ringy beam) is awesome. Not sure I am making much sense, but I understand what I'm saying anyway :D

Can't wait for nightfall, my windowless guest bath was my only opportunity to give it a quick test.

Probably should have left this to someone more qualified, but here you go. New SF123A approx 12"-16" from the door panel

I'm not sure what you mean - that's a very nice job. One thing that's always nice is a side-by-side (same photo) beamshot of a well-known light (PD, PD-S, etc. - I think you have at least one of those!), to get a real comparison of how the beams stack up... with camera settings, varying distances, wall colors, it always helps me guage how the beam stacks up to something I'm already familiar with. :)

Thanks for the quick turnaround on the pics too!

OK, here is some 3/4 drunk beam shots. Me and the wife cranked up the blender tonight. She had a bunch of Pina Colodas and I drank Bud light (And a few Pinas!) :drunk:

Here we go. All pics same exposure manually. No tripod tonight, just Bud-Light hands!

Great pics, PSM, thanks! In pic #2, how far is it to the tree?

Great shots !

PSM ... it seems you got pretty stable hands after consuming some alcohol ... I'd be concerned that it is not the other way round ... :nana: :aaa:
