when more is much more..

The sleeve in the original printing of this one was a black and white drawing of the contents of a bar like a sweat circle from a cocktail glass and a lemon drop. If you got it wet the drawing turned into color where it got wet. A friend of mine spilled a beer on his and "holy crap, did you see that?" We dabbed water on it in other places and "awe dude that is so cool".

I've always dug the title track from this movie - it just resonates with me somehow. I 'relate' to it.

Wang Chung
"To Live and Die in LA" (04:58)

Recently I wondered what they might do with this piece when they took it to the stage. I think think they did very well indeed. Different, of course, but still a great track. Good job.

@ The Ritz (07:10)

When they put out Points on a Curve they were the opening act for The Cars in my area. Friends all said "hey the Cars are coming to town, let's get some tickets." Not a fan of Heartbeat City I yawned until it was said Wang Chung was the opening act. I went to see Wang Chung and stayed for The Cars.

Never heard them before this. Thanx! That is interesting, and I rather like it. One thing for sure, I won't have the problem of it 'playing in my head' after hearing it, as I normally might. This is what I might call 'in the moment' listening (yes, I just made that genre term up). I defy anyone to learn this piece and play it by ear!

They sound a bit like "fusion" jazz but way more organized. Fusion seemed to be a bunch of musicians all playing their own song at the same time.

Years ago I had a small aquarium in my hovel apartment. I'd play various music and watch how the neon tetras would swim about. Charlie Brown music, various smooth jazz artists and mellow music playing nearby would result in them frolicking all about all happy like. Judas Preist and that type music would cause them to crash into each other like they were in a mosh pit. No kidding. Fusion jazz playing.....they'd freeze. Turn off the fusion and things would go back to normal. Turn it back on and they'd freeze again as if to say "make it stop, pleeeeeeeease". lol

My best friend & his brother *found* four tickets to Head East in the parking lot of a big record store.
I was in like 5th or 6th grade,, we went with his dad, my first rock concert.:buttrock:
The seats were way up in the nose bleed section

*still think maybe the tickets were placed outside for a promo back in the day, never know

How Soon is Now ~ such a hauntingly great tune,
an alternative radio station in Milwaukee does a Retro Brunch every Sunday, How Soon is Now is usually played, for good reason.

I'm a massive Cult fan,
LOVE
from '85 also,, is probably my favorite album of all time.

Got this band's music stuck in my head today after seeing them live last night. Lonnie Walker.
I first heard them while living in Greensboro NC when the college radio stations couldn't seem to play them enough.

They were the opener for Future Islands last night. The place was all littered with hippy's, hipsters and frat boys all standing around like "uh, wait this aint Future Islands man" (butthead laugh) "huh huh huh". I enjoyed them more than the highlight band. Me and about 4 other OG's in the crowd.

Future Islands btw

Eh, the hipsters were way more afraid of me than I was of them. The hippy's were all comfortably numb from eating thc laced food. The drunken frat boys was the wild card. Some of those brats can be mean at times. But they tended to move around the place a lot trying to pick up chicks.

I just stood in a safe place sipping on a bottled water with my police officer pose on and they all left me a wide circle. It may have helped that they could see the lanyard from my pocket clipped flashlight dangling. Many "assume" the lanyard is attached to a self defense tool.

Van Morison gets credit for this one these days
