:huh2: WEIRD - My Cell Phone Plays With My Flashlight!

Yup, it's true. If I lay my EternaLight X-Ray near my cell phone . . . . . every time my cell phone rings - the X-Ray lights up! And sometimes the phone doesn't have to ring, the cell's backlight will light up momentarily every now and then through the day (I don't know why) and if the X-Ray is near it, the X-Ray will come on. The X-Ray comes on full in the first mode (time out mode), and will stay on until either someone turns it off or it times out. I've only noticed this when the two are right next to each other, nearly touching. But they play nicely together. - Larry

That is awesome........and creepy ;-)

My cellphone plays with my car and computer speakers, but never a flashlight. Sounds like something that might make a good video to show us. Feel like taking a 20 second clip with your digital camera?

The bit about this happening without ringing, is due to control channel; ie the cellphones regulary connect up to the tower/cell to register their presence and check for signal, kind of "I am here, can you hear me??". This connection attempt can be at full transmission strength, which is logical if you think about it.
Thats the brrrr brrrrr signal you hear through radios, speakers etc once in a while if a cell phone is close by as well. Used to happen a lot more before, but I suppose now with 3G etc the frequencies have changed, or manufacturers are beefing up the shielding and resistance of their new stuff.

Thanks Sinjz, you've solved the mystery. Now that I know this - should I leave them close together so they can play, won't get lonely, etc.? - Larry

They may touch if you are in the room...

If you leave, then as minors they must remain at arms length from each other ....so no PDA's...

AHHHhhh, nope... not iPAQ PDA but ...Public Displays of Affection!

Keep'em apart and no sharing plugs at night or batteries during the day...the sharing of used batteries cannot cause triple AAA's or button batteries.

If there is drainage then seek a Radio Shack immediately.

The worst thing is when you are listening to music at elevated levels, and you've left your phone near to a signal cable. Not the best sound to be coming out of a $1600 pair of speakers.

But, with regard to your eternalight, it would make a great 'noiseless' alert system. Supposing you left it on your desk, the eternalight would visually indicate an incoming call.
