The following link shows a couple of pictures of my most recent mod. 2d mag converted to 3c running a single low dome direct drive and using one of Wayne's 30mm optics. He was kind enough to post it on his website. I will be getting more detailed information together next week and will get it to him to post. I am very pleased with how it turned out. I am going on a weekend church retreat and look forward to testing it out. I also want to show it off. I could never have done any of this on my own. I have read many threads by many different people and I finally utilized much of what I've read to make this project happen.

I like the convertable design. most impressive /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

That's one slick mod! I'm looking forward to the additional info.

Nice engineering, sir. It wasn't until I read the other's posts that I realized that the PR part was drafted and fabricated by you. I was thinking, "Where did he get that?". Dr Slick, true to form, identifies the salient benefit of your mod to the uneducated observer.

The whole mod is a fine piece. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Thanks for the kind reviews. I just got back a little while ago from a weekend retreat. I was in the middle of the Texas Hill Country(in the middle of nowhere and very dark). Anyway, it was my first chance to see this mod in action. I am really impressed with the throw of the 30mm optic compared to the smaller optics. I had my other mag conversion there also. Each light had a similar low dome running direct drive off of 3c batteries and the 30mm easily outperformed the other(this of course all depends on what you want from a flashlight).

Everyone was told to bring a flashlight or two for their family and we had 250 people there. I saw a lot of 2d and 3d Mags there. I got some interesting looks when we were at the main lodge area and my light was on the table. The optic stands out compared to the reflector. My favorite question was "why would anyone want to modify a flashlight?". I still get a chuckle from that one. I guess my answer should have been, "because I'm a flashaholic!" Once I explained the bulb life, no broken filaments, run time, etc., I got some real impressed looks.

I look forward to comparing a low dome and high dome head to head(both with 30mm optic) to see the difference. I will be getting more pictures together of this project and talk more in depth about how I came to this particular mod and why I chose to do certain applications a particular way.
