Hi all:

I just received my very first Arc flashlight ever. I bought the Arc AAA DS premium. Wow... smaller and brighter and lighter than I imagined. What a great light! Thanks to all of you out there talking this little light up, otherwise I would never have replaced my lost photon freedom with it.

Mine is colored much like the one in a previous post- natural HA III on the tube and a much much darker LED housing. At first I was taken aback, but it has grown on me. It gives character! And doesn't effect the workings of the light, which is why I bought it anyway: for the light, not the looks!

Thanks again, and I look forward to getting lots of use of out my new AAA Premium. And hopefully the new "LS" soon, too!

Great to see you like the DS. I've carried an Arc-AAA for quite a long time. I do have the Photon Freedom but I don't carry it. The Arc is better.

I know just how you feel. My first Arc, also a DS, just arrived today. What a quality light! This one is not going on my keychain. Ill keep the cheap lights there. This light is going in my pocket, and on a regular basis I might add. My thanks to all of you who recommended this light. :grin2:

Its probably easier to lose if you just keep it in your pocket. It will drop out. Keep it on your keys, it wont get scratched, at least not for a few years..lol

The best looking AAA's are the ones that have been used and abused but still work, anyway. If you can't bear to throw it in your pocket together with keys and change, just run it through the washer** first, like you would with a new pair of jeans :)

**[i do not know if this is covered under warranty, but it hasn't stopped mine from working]

I have more keys than a janitor. In fact, I have so many keys I have two keyrings. One for work and one for personal stuff. But... put "My Precious" on a keyring? Never!

btw, according to this I am the owner of a truly beautiful mag solitaire.

I initially had my Arc in the pocket separately from the keys, however that idea didn't work for me. Unless you intend to only keep the Arc in the pocket with nothing else then i think it's probably better to keep it with the keys. I kept mine in the same pocket as the wallet to try and prevent scratches on the surface, even though the HA is likely to withstand such scratches anyway. When i reached for my wallet, the grippy knurl on the Arc came out with the wallet and fell straight onto hard concrete, this happened twice. Fortunately the HA Type III held up, but there was a noticeable dent on the tip of the head. Now i just keep it with the keys, so it doesn't fall out of my pocket, because i rather have some minor wear over time, than dents on the lights.

A Mag solitaire's finish starts to wear off even before the light turns sickly yellow. A mag solitaire without some kind of upgrade should be left solitarily on the shelf..

a washing machine should be a walk in the park for a well lubed arc, even unlubeed just take it apart, let it dry, it should light up, the potted head is marvellous.

As for keys, it came up to a point once, i had so much EDC stuff on my key ring, i was starting to think about making the KEYS detachable.

I have read about quite a few Arc's that has been through the wash and dry cycle. I don't ever remember one that quit because of that. I once lost my gen 1, Arc-LE NAT (2001) in the yard for a few months. The weather was wet and rainy and some snow and ice thrown in. It worked on the first twist and when I pulled the battery, it was bone dry inside. Remember that Arc's are rated as 50' but they have been tested at 300' without problems.

I actually tried one of the arcmania led upgrades in the solitaire before I decided to buy the Arc-P. The improvement made it only slightly less beautiful. :grin2:
At some point the Arc will probably end up on my keyring...but not yet!
Once again, thanks to everyone on these forums for recommending this great light.

I've carried mine by itself in my pocket for years. I don't like bulk in my pockets, so I don't even carry keys on me except for a single car key.

The rest of my keys are on a double ring on a lanyard and stay in the car's console or on a hook by my back door. I have an extra ARC on the lanyard keys with a BP clip so that it can be easily removed.

My EDC is much more useful by itself than on a keyring. If you decide to attach it, I'd recommend a BP clip so that it can be easily removed.
