Hi Everybody,
Here are my L35 and N30 pics.
Both Mr. Ted Bear's L35 and my L35 are included. Mr. Ted Bear's N30 was used at the lot and mine on my street. The 6,000K N30 is a N30 I put a 6,000K bulb into.
In reality if you have ever seen an auto with 4200K headlights you will know that the N30 and AI have always been a bit 'greener' then cars with 4200K headlights. As a result colors are slightly more true with the L35.
It is also important to remember that hotspots in HID's are very often not centered. So different amounts of light may or may not be hitting the ground in any given shot when the focus of the hotspot is in the same place. My camera was set to 5" f3.5 auto white balance.
When I try to show overal light output I will often use 6", but I wanted everything to show more 'color' this time.
The tree that was being focused on was 150 yards away, according to Mr Ted Bear.

Now for some shots on my street. The Garage at the end of the street is 368 yards away. Take a look at the trees and the asphalt in the fore ground and how the different lights effect their color.

In person the color difference between the N30 and L35 is not Real dramatic, but the Blue of the 6,000K bulb is quite noticeable.
Also, if I had the time to do super crops which would be a bit out of focus you would be able to see that the L35 is doing the best job of lighting the garage 368 yards away.
Like I have been saying all along. Improvements in the L35 were not going to be light output, but the sum total of all of the other upgrades that make it a better light. The 30 in N30 has always been appoximate as in as much over 30 watts as needed to get the 35 watt bulb to work right .
The primary goals of the L35 have never been more lightout, but rather lighter weight, tougher case, more water resistant, longer run time.
Matt brought the additional improvements to the table, different certifications, international power supply, car charging capability,
Black rubberized paint (Sweet). All that I can quickly think of off the top of my head.
On another note- My N30 has a very clean beam because it is one of the ones that got a bit of hazing on the reflector at some point. I liked how it cleaned up the beam and really did not have an adverse effect on throw . So I left the haze.
Once again, in reality the color temp of the L35 actually gives slightly truer color rendition of objects then the N30.
Take Care,
