This evening I stopped off at Home Despot to check out their 2C Mag selection, found another Bluish-Purple Mag that i picked up just for the heck of it, i also picked up an Eveready Hard-Case 4D cell lantern with the Luxeon K2 LED, it claimed to push out 100 lumens, which i thought was a slight exaggeration......
it wasn't......
it was a *MAJOR* exaggeration, this thing was truly *PATHETIC*, it was nowhere even near 100 lumens, heck, it wasn't even near 50 lumens, 20 to 30 at most, it had a horrible, olympic-ringy beam, it was absolutely pathetic, on a scale of 1-10, it was a .5, it got a half point for simply producing light
yes, it could have been defective, but i wasn't taking another chance, i returned it, and started to drive home in defeat
on the way back, on a whim, i stopped in at Pep Boys, and for a mere $10 more, picked up the Motor Trend 10K candlepower spotlight......
Ahh....this is more like it, a massively powerful beam (compared to all my other lights, that is, my previous power light was my Magcharger) and massive throw, i *LOVE* it!
or, in the words of Tim Allen's "Tim Taylor" character, ARR, ARR, ARR!!!
i know this light is essentially a Thor (slightly less powerful, 10K as opposed to 15K), and i'm very impressed with it's performance, there's just nothing quite like a car headlight bulb in a huge smooth reflector driven by a small lead-acid battery to put all my other lights into perspective, bang for the buck, these car-headlight dealies are unbeatable
the thing makes my MagCharger look like a stock incan Minimag
it made the Hard Case lantern look like a birthday candle....
hmm.....wonder what the deal is with this HID thingy i've been hearing so much about.......
