Looks like an ordinary KL4 right? 😗

Look again....

And for what you can't see, it's not just an emitter swap....this baby is now running FLuPIC V2.2!

The finished product 😀

When I first joined the forums and saw a macro pic of a McGizmo,
I thought the light would have been about 10 feet tall in person.
Boy was I surprised when it came in the mail.
So for you new guys unfamiliar with the sizes of certain components,
here's a pic of this very same light in my hand for reference purposes:

Awesome............!!!!!

Will does amazing work.......

Re: My New 'darkzero' Custom

Wow, that combo looks awsome! I personally always thought the Backups looked too plain but your pics has just changed my mind. I love how that looks especially with that tailguard (you were right)!

Just to add, the FLuPIC is modded to drive the D bin at over 2A. The stock reflector is sputtered to completely eliminate the donut hole.

Thermal transfer should be pretty good as the stock heatsink's cavity is filled in perfectly with a copper shim, P7 is raised to come in to focus, heatsink & FLuPIC are fully potted is are mounted on a brass disc in place of the stock driver. Also a bit of Arctic Silver Creamique to mate the heatsink to the head.

Hope you enjoy!

Haha...I wish.
That's awesome, should get me more E1Bs now....

Wow that is a cool little set up!

Re: My New 'darkzero' Custom

Very nice light Bruce
How bright is this pocket flamethrower ???

Re: My New 'darkzero' Custom

Thanks everyone! I'm belt-carrying this for the first time today and so far so good. I'm worried about getting the first scratch, but once that happens everything will be ok.

Wai, I'll try to take some ceiling bounce pics tonight. Unfortunately I don't have a camera with manual settings, so it's basically a point-n-shoot, but should be fairly close to what the eye sees. I can always adjust the exposure on a PC to make them appear more accurate. At the moment, I've got it set on UI #4 and the strobe is just insane! 😎

Re: My New 'darkzero' Custom

Where did you get the tailguard?
Well, I picked it up secondhand from Marketplace a few days ago. This particular flared version I believe is made and available from http://www.jsburlysflashlghts.comJS Burlys, but they were out of stock when I last visited them. I tried out the crenelated E2DL tailcap also, but I prefer the flared guard shown.

As promised, here's a few ceiling bounce shots. I used the point-n-shoot camera and all photos are untouched. Pics were taken in a pitch black room so no need for a control shot.

NOTE: All pics for the most part exemplify what the human eye sees in person, with the one exception being the KL4 on lvl.1 appears in the pic to be just a bit dimmer than it actually is.

As the British would say Bruce .....

"Bloody Hell" .... thats bright :faint::faint::faint:

I think you better edit that out .... a true flashlight aficionda would not have
a light with a useless strobe function 😛 😛 😛

I agree that stobe is pretty useless for my use too but I will disagree with this light. Have you even seen the strobe on a high amp FLuPIC with a P7 or MC-E with the strobe frequency set to the max (strobe requency is adjustable on the FLuPIC)? Still might be useless but it's so much fun! As Bruce said, it's insane, words can not explain! :aaa:
