Ok here's what i have planned. I have a big Million candlepower 6V spotlight with a 6W halogen bulb. the battery is dead so i went out and bought a new Lead/acid one.

Now since I'm making a triclops Mag (w 3 Lux III's stars) I now have a spare Lux V.

the lux V star will be mounted on a 1/4" thick copper plate about 2" square.

now...the Lux V needs 6.8 Vf to light and my new battery only has 6.2 or so, will this work or do i need a "fatman" board? The light is rechargeable so runtime isnt important, but i would like to run this as direct drive.

any thoughts or ideas?

I'm hoping the massive reflector will make it super bright and energy efficient maybe 2-3 hours of use VS the 30 min with the halogen bulb.

Dunno if the spotlight reflector will work so well for you - those are typically shallow and optomized for vertically-opriented filaments. Of course, experimentation is the way to go.
