This will be my first attempt at a review of a light I just bought that no one here seems to know about yet. I decided that it’s so good that I wanted everyone to know about it.
The light is the Energizer High Intensity flashlight. Here’s a link to see it:

The light is sold at Target for $21.99. I wanted it as soon as I first saw it because it looks so similar to my old ROV Sportsman Extreme 2AA 1 watt, which is a momentary switched, 45 lumen luxeon. But I was hesitant because I doubted the claim of 130 lumens for 2 hours. The LED is round, which means it’s not a Cree. Cree LED’s are square, right? It’s possible that’s it’s a Luxeon Rebel, but the package doesn’t say. Neither does the weblink. I wrote to Energizer and asked about it, but they just wrote back with a link to a technical page that was no help, specifying that the light uses “an LED”. The link above states that it’s a “white LED”. I had also asked them if it was manufactured by Nuwai and was rebranded, and asked for a link to that information but they said that’s confidential. If they have to be this vague, it gave me doubts about how good it could be. I also wrote to Nuwai but they haven’t responded yet.
I ended up buying it because I really wanted a 2AA light. My alternative was the Coleman 3AAA which is 144 Lumens at Walmart for a few dollars more, but I really didn’t want to deal with the 3AAA format. Besides, I already have AA rechargeables, but not AAA. I figured I could return the Energizer and get the Coleman if I was disappointed.
The package was simple enough—a cardboard package with the light simply strapped to it by 2 plastic bands. I was even able to put the batteries in and try it out without removing it from the package! The flashlight is a silvery-white color and has an orange peel reflector. There were 3 lights on the shelf, but only 1 with the LED centered in the reflector. I got that one. Unlike the ROV, it doesn’t have a belt clip, but it does have a lanyard. Also, the bezel can’t be removed, while the ROV can for candle mode, even though neither of these lights can tailstand. The Energizer light has a reverse clicky tailcap switch. I prefer a momentary like my ROV has. Guess what! The ROV’s momentary tailcap switch is compatible with the Energizer light and vice versa. So if you already have the ROV Sportsman Extreme, you can swap tailcaps for the type of UI you prefer. Pretty neat for 2 lights marketed by different brands! I think it’s obvious that both of them were rebranded by the same manufacturer. My guess as to which manufacturer is Nuwai.
Upon getting it home, I tried it out and was delighted at the results! Comparing it to my similar-looking ROV, the beam was almost the same, but about 3 times brighter, as would be expected. The hotspot was slightly wider, and the flood portion was about the same diameter as my ROV. Outdoors is where it really looks great! It throws far and wide and the beam is nice and white.
For the money, I think this is a great light!
