I dropped my Tri-Cree Mag Mod on the driveway today..
I had dropped it before , but I guess this time was really solid.

I tested to see if it works and it didnt come on. I thought maybe a wire got unsoldered , so I proceeded to take it apart..

You can see the ding on the head..

I took the head apart first, I was expecting the reflector to fall out but I didnt expect the cree to follow..

2 out of 3 came out..

One of the cree was even stuck to the reflector...

Oh well that would be about 9 Cree's that I have killed so far...I hope I didnt kill another Shark driver..:grin2:

I think the Shark is open circuit protected, so should be OK.

OUCH!!! Looks like you need some sort of plastic holder to keep the reflectors from moving side to side.

:mecry: Ouch! Sorry :(

Reflectors shouldn't be mounted in such a way they are attached to the emitter, or are free to come into contact with the emitter, for this very reason.

I accidetally broke the dome off of one of my Cree LEDs trying to install an optic into a flashlight. Interestingly, I can focus it MUCH tighter for throw with either a reflector or, especailly, with a lens. It still seems perfectly functional. It looks like on one, the dome came off cleanly leaving the emitter, but on the other the emitter appears to be destroyed.
