So basically found out about this forum via another forum that I hang on.. watchuseek.. so here I am.. kinda first post and all.

Long story short. Swedish guy living in Dublin Ireland working in IT... ok.. that was super short!

I used to work as a security guard during my university studies to get some extra $$$. Did this for a little more then 3 years.. had a MagCharger in the car as a work horse and just a little mag on the belt. Since I was a student I couldnt afford to buy anything of my own.

Last year as a Xmas gift to my dad I bought a MagCharger.. He always complaints about not having a proper flashlight and always running out of batteries. So I thought.. what da heck.. lets get him a MagCharger. During winter time it gets pretty Dark in the north part of Sweden. Lets just say he have used it a lot and was amazed by the beam it gives!

Anyway.. I thought I might treat myself this year with a flashlight.. I dont want something as big as a MagChrger since I will probably carry it with me everyday to and from work. ( I drive a off road motorbike so never know where I end up.. ehum)

Anyway.. after some re-search and browsing around on CPF I have narrowed it down to a Surefire M3.
So think I will take the plunge on a M3 and get 4 x 17500 LiIon batteries. that way I have two spares if its needed.
Read a thread here about rechargables and if I read that right I should be able to switch 3x123As against 2 x 17500s.

If I like the Surefire (never seen them live or felt the build of them) I will probably get some of the smaller LED lights they have. Would be could for crawling around in a server room or peeking beneath the raised floor.

So.. stupid idea with the 17500s? Did look at the 8ax but for some reason I felt more for the M3...

Feel free to comment and challenge my choice :)

Looking forward to a another nice forum to hang out in!!!

Kindest regards
Patrik

Welcome Patrik!

FYI, I started my flashlight addiction with a Surefire E2E. Since then more lights have followed. I like your 17500 idea with the M3. Another idea is the M4, where you could run 2x 17670's, 4x CR123's.

In my case, one of my latest lights is a body (C-M 2x18650) made by a CPF-er named Leef along with one of his tailcaps, married to a Surefire KT4 kit. I got the two Leef bodies from www.lighthound.com. They have been out of them lately, but in the future, Leef should make some more.

Enjoy your new hobby! But, I can warn you: watch your wallet!
