Nail Polish Remover & Princeton Attitude

I like my Attitude LED, but don't like the giant white letters spelling out Attitude on the handle.

No problem to remove, take a kleenex and a little of the wife's nail polish remover, and presto, the lettering is gone!

PS - If I disable one of the three LEDs would my Attitude be brighter - or would my personal attitude need adjusting????

Hey King, good idea about getting that nasty white lettering off of the Attitude handle.

About disabling one of the LEDs - you might blow it up by doing so!

Thanks Flashking - I just removed the funky white letters from my attitude.

Looks better

Better watch out... there might be a tattletale on this board.

PT might switch to an embossing now, so as to make it more difficult to transform the Attitude into a generic flashlight.

Check out the "Private Label" section of Princeton Tec's website - they seem to be happy to print whatever you want on a flashlight. Perhaps we should have them make a "CandlePower Forums Special".

Interesting idea about the nail polish, however, I would warn (and I am not an expert in plastics) that the acetone in the nail polish remover could potentially damage the plastic and the integrity of the body (LEXAN).........

I live half a block from the Pike Place Market, and the guys that work at the fish market throw fish to entertain the tourists.

rubbing alcohol works, too - probably less damaging than fingernail polish remover

I say chaps, my jolly old British Attitude (just newly bought) is transparent green, with black lettering and a lightly textured, "roughened" finish. I don't like the lettering, and really wanted to remove it.

And wonder of CPF, here is the very issue brought up !

If the lettering is black, it could maybe be a different ink (or whatever). Anyone in the USA tried this with a black lettered version ?

The texture makes it impossible to just polish out. It reads like the Stateside versions are a shiny finish.

If the removal by solvent requires a lot of rubbing, it would spoil the texture: does the lettering come off without much "scraping"?

perhaps you could remove by using an industrial strength cutting laser aimed exactly parallely to the attitude letters facing the end(don't want to burn up the bezel now do we??)and rotate the light to burn off the letters if they do decide to use raised print.

(I really hope that none of you are really THAT concerned with the cosmetics of the flashlight as to do this...)

YEAH ! I WANNA !!

Your suggestion wouldn't solve the texture problem either - well, how would I reinstate the texture on mine?

Yes, black lettering will also be removed with nail polish remover. It will do a jolly-good job!

Does not require much rubbing at all.

Yours sincerely,
James
