Does a Nebo Classic have potential to improve? Can you put a 26650 battery in it instead of the 6aa battery holder? Can you swap the driver? It's such a cool looking light and it looks well made. I'm just not interested in it as a single mode, 6aa flashlight. Thanks.

I would consider just buying a native light with features and using the battery of choice instead of spending $30 and another $20+ to mod this light as it may require you to tear it up to get the battery holder changed to another format and depending on how the head is made may need modding to incorporate a new driver plus better heatsinking as 6AA batteries tend to cave in voltage when more current demand is put upon them but lithium ion doesn't so it will be brighter for longer and a light that size you may want 1200 lumens instead of 600 most likely.
Thanks. Your advice is definitely the prudent option. But spending a week or two fooling around with a project has lots of value to me. One of my favorite lights is a fake Maglite that I swapped the led, driver, and battery to create a wonderful thrower that's fun to carry around. I was looking for the inside scoop on the Nebo Classic to see if I could gauge the potential of a new project. I hope someone chimes in with first-hand knowledge.
